Where to buy my S2000
After waiting about two years, I finally have the money to purchase my S2000. I've been watching posts on the board for what people actually have been paying. It seems like the prices may have come down a little, but they have remained much firmer than I thought they would. I'm the kind of person that insists on getting a gread deal on any car that I purchase. So much so that my wife says the car purchasing process is painful for her. Anyway, I'm trying to decide when and where to get my S2000. If I wait until December I can get an '03 and the price might be less because of cold weather and competition from the Nissan 350Z. If I buy now, well, I can have it now! Which is the better strategy? Whenever I decide to get one, where should I buy it? It seems like the Atlanta area dealerships are awfully proud of their S2000 inventory. Is there a good deal to be had in Atlanta or should I opt for dealerships in the southwest Tennessee/north Mississippi area (that where my inlaws live and we go there quite a bit). The markets in that area are not as high end as Atlanta. Would it be worth the trouble to get one from there? Any other advice? Thanks in advance for your help.
Sheister, stop, look no further than the Honda dealer in Gainesville, Milton Martin Honda. Please give David Copus or Ron Lawson a call at 770-534-2312 they are the best dealer in a 50 mile radius of Atlanta. They also help sponsor the Atlanta club please tell them I sent you, the club could use the referal fee.
They have been very easy to deal with. Kigershark got his car for $31,500 which is the best price I've seen in Atlanta, all with no B.S.
As far as having an '03, my take on it is this, there are no changes other than available colors. White with tan leather will be the new color combo and Silverstone is returning. As for competition with the new 350 Z, it already looks like the performance numbers are slightly below the S2000 and that's for the Track Edition (MSRP $35k). Check out the latest Car and Driver.
Oh, and get the car NOW! Don't wait. These things are awesome.

Dave

I may be the lone person from this board to buy there, but I purchased my '02 S2000 from Donna Haan at Nalley Honda in Union City just as the first 2002's were coming off the ships for MSRP. I would think that you would get at least that good of a deal now, if not better.
I found her very fair and fun to work with....definitely not a hardball salesperson. The number there is 770-306-4600.

Nally Honde just emailed me a (cheesy) scanned image of their flyer and the S2000 is "on sale" for only $33,771. Hey, that's only $931 above MSRP (assuming that includes destination).
When I bought my 2001 I was "baited" into that dealership when the Internet Sales Manager said he would sell me an S for MSRP. When I got there the best they could do was $5000 over. I walked out PO'd that they wasted my time.
Mike's experience sounds like it went better than mine at that dealership. I'm sure you'll find some deals around but I won't back down on my original recommendation.

Nally's ad in the Sunday paper said they had 8 available. Maybe with that many on the lot they will deal a little. There were 13 used listed as well so it seems the car is getting more available. Most dealers don't ever list S2000s or their prices in the ads. You would think they sell nothing but Accords and Civics and sometimes have a small number of Odysseys in stock. If you can wait, order one through Milton Martin. They are great to work with and IMHO offer the best price locally.
I went in to Nalley, wasted 8 hours haggling with the manager and they would not budge off $33771. Not only that, but I was there on a Saturday night and by the time 11:00PM rolled around I had to leave. I said I'd come in on Monday if they would meet my terms (MSRP), they said no problem, I had it but only if I was in at 9AM on monday. I took time off work, got down there and still had to wait an hour to get in to the finance guy (there was nobody else ahead of me either). When I did, he stated the price was still $33,771, PLUS $400 "documentation fee", a prep fee, advertising fee, etc...
Needless to say I won't be back there.
Oh, BTW I'm looking for a dealer as well. I'd like to order one for less than MSRP, which seems to be a long shot in the Atlanta area. I'll try the Gainesville dealership, but I'd still like to pay around $30K. Maybe I'll order from out of state.

Personally, I think $30K for a brand new S2000 may be a bit aggressive for Atlanta based on what I have heard. It seems that MSRP or a shade under seems to be a good deal around here. But you never know........it never hurts to ask.
No, I don't work for Nalley, nor am I related to Donna. I just had a very positive experience working with her on the purchase of my S2000 and have tried to reward her for that.
Thanks Dave, I'll give him a try. I'd consider paying a little more to buy it local since if I order one from the midwest I'd have to either fly out and drive it back (oh the horror) or have it shipped at extra expense. But then theres the tax thing to consider to.
Mike, you can tell her to speak to the finance manager. I don't remember his name. He should know exactly who I am and why I left. She can also talk to "Freddy", the sales manager, as he appears to be informed about my situation since he called me and asked "why my car was still on the lot" (as if I was obligated/commited).
Like I said, I won't be back there, and I'd just like nothing more to do with them. Even if they said they would sell at my asking price, I doubt I would do it, seeing as they said that already once and lied just to get me back on the lot.
Glad you had a good experience.
