Default Air pump problem

Hi

I have been getting a cel code appearing its only happened twice so far, the cel code is p1411 this seems to point to the 'secondary air pump'.

Today when i started the car up from cold the cel light came on and i could not hear the airpump at all, i reset the cel light after leaving the car for 10mins and the airpump then came on for 30secs or so as it should then switched off.

Other than this the car runs fine.

I was just thinking, i think i have this right the air thats pumped via the secondary air pump actually goes into the exhaust manifold to help combustion of unburned gases during the warm up of the car notabily from when stone cold. Also the airpump is only used during cold startups???

I have checked all the vac lines, airpump fuse etc, the only other thing I'm thinking of is the relay but then thinking more into it cant be the airpump relay??

Other possible things it could be:

1. ECU connections but they seem fine?
2. Airpump relay sticking?
3. Dodgy lamda sensors though they seems fine and were replaced 4 month ago.
4. Airpump but i seems to engage ok.

So its no biggie really??? ie okay to drive the car as its only used on cold startup?

Also which could be unrelated? my scenario is using the car for a 20min journey travelling to tesco's. I get out and head into tescos for 15mins come back and start the car when i take off i get karngarooing for about 10-15secs where the car will not go anywhere/jumps then after 10-15 the car is fine, this could be un-related though?

^ i replaced both o2 sensors 3 months ago and this seemed to coincide with the heistation/kangarooing but when mointoring they seem fine (were not out of range etc), i left it because i thought it was heatsoak but now im sure, as i havent had it before with the k&n fipk induction kit.

^ does the airpump still come on when the coolant sat at 2/3 bars - hence me thinking sticking relay? - i think it doesnt?

One other thing whilst on the dyno whilst sitting it started kangaroo/hesitate and the idle hunts like above, but i noticed it running lean about 16AFR during idle the AFR should be 14.7 and bouncing backforth between this and 15 odd.

I cleaned the ICV about 18/20 month ago.

Thanks

Bearing in mind you've just removed your Air Con, i'd look around the area you were messing about in.

Checked that matt I'm positive the air pump problem is not related. My mate looked to and can't see any problem with aircon.

I Have the J's ECU, i think it does.

I had the same problem with the hesitation with stock ECU and spoon ECU.

The J's doesnt neither does the Spoon, i can hear it.

You ask J's to disable it if you have removed it.

I think its now the lambda sensor that is causing the problem on intial warm startup due to the response time and warm up of a 'non' oem part.
