The colorful Clockwise Group met up for breakfast at Shari’s.
…
Following a hearty breakfast, Amy and Janice proceeded to entertain us with views of their calves:
…
…
Then it was on out to meet the late arrivers and to welcome John (nvsailor) and Karen to the group.
…
…
…
…
…
All bundled up and ready to roll!
…
We headed out through downtown Troutdale:
…
And along the Sandy River on our way up the Historic Highway
…
We arrive at the Gorge overlook:
…
…
…
At the overlook we had a nice view of the sunrise over the Gorge:
…
Then it was on down the highway and past the falls
…
Approaching the Bridge of the Gods:
…
…
On Hwy. 14:
…
Our first pit-stop at Drano Lake:
…
Look Ma! No duplicate colors! (Spa AND Rio!)
…
…
Back on the road:
…
At Bingen we turn off of Hwy. 14 and head on up to Glenwood:
…
…
…
…
…
A “first” for one of our drives was a flock of wild turkeys that darted out in front of Amy. From behind, we could tell they weren’t deer as they had two legs, but they were huge! They looked like raptors! Amy successfully averted an early Thanksgiving feast and we were on up the curvy climb to the top of the plateau:
…
…
…
…
…
Once on the top, we encountered some nice rolling washboard sections of highway. Amy actually got up to 12 mph (yes, that’s probably a typo).
Then it was down the guardrail-less road to Klickitat:
…
And on down the river to Hwy. 14 again.
We headed on into The Dalles and stopped off to refuel at Chevron (they LOVE us!)
…
At the Baldwin Saloon we meet up with the Counter-Clockwise Group who has just finished their lunch.
Following a little conversation and comparing of notes about the roads, we head in to have our lunch.
…
…
…
Ready to leave:
…
Heading up to Rufus:
...
And across the scenic route to Mt. Hood:
…
Passing some snowy trees:
…
At the Sno-Park we stop for our afternoon photo-shoot with the top of Mt. Hood in the background. Unfortunately the top of the mountain was obscured. But it WOULD have been a great background!
…
…
…
Next we encountered the mountain rain that the Counter-Clockwise Group had warned us about.
…
We made a stop at Government Camp for our last pit-stop and then headed on down the mountain.
At Sandy we turned off on Hwy. 211 and made our way to Clackamas by way of Doug’s favorite roads in the area. Great roads and nice countryside. Thanks Doug!
…
Back at I-205 we split up and head on home:
…
Amy and Dave:
…
Marc:
…
John and Karen:
…
Ken and Jody:
…
Dave and Janice:
…
…
Thanks to everyone who joined in for the fun today!

So the site finally decided to let some of my (very blurry and limited selection of) pictures upload, so without further delay:
Aww, I'm the only one at the start point....
Wait, there's Doug.
and Garret
A small breakfast crew on a grey morning
Off we go:
It got a little moist on the way up Mt Hood.
Snow didn't stop us from driving (or Garret from wearing shorts)
Continuing on up Hwy 35
I somehow managed to take a couple pictures during the next leg that were all blurry...so just imagine lots of twisty roads I guess....
Until we finally arrived in The Dalles for lunch.........
.....15 minutes before they opened
Time to sit down and get our grub on
With a little time to visit with the CW group who caught up to us
The weather finally began to clear up and get nicer so we hit the road again treking down Hwy 14 and up towards White Salmon.
More twisty roads unfortunately kept my hands on the wheel and unable to take pictures for part of this trek. I blame Shonda's work schedule for stealing away my camera person/navigator. Sorry
Coming back around on Hwy 14
Last reststop
Out towards the Bridge of the Gods and the Historic Highway
Up to Crown Point for a quick visit and last goodbyes before going our separate ways
Sorry I couldnt get more photos. I'll try harder next time (to make sure Shonda comes)
Aaron
here are some of the pictures shots that i've taken...as usual i had a great, great time on this last drive of the year and it's been nice meeting everybody again. thanks again to our CO's for an awesome job on organizing on all of our drives
I had a great time on the drive it was a great way to wrap up the drive season. Good to see everyone again. Nice to meet the new folks in our group Ryan and Tanya hope I got your names right There was a little bit of everything as far as weather was concerned but not a real big deal. The twisty roads up on the Klickatat's were a blast.
pics will come tomorrow. I've browsed through them, but have no easy way to edit them on Shonda's laptop (need to get her a copy of Photoshop, I guess).
OK here is my first attempt at video on our drives. I wire tied my P&S cam to the passanger head rest area of the seat. I took several videos during the drive. I will post them up as I get them uploaded - Youtube is somewhat slow at times.
Thanks for making us feel at home on the last drive of the year!
We had a great time and hope to perhaps join you for a D&D in the off season as well as some drives next year.
The event was well planned, the route was fantastic and the pace and level of the drive kept me on my toes as the next twisty approached. We had a lot of fun even after Ken tossed a bale of hay in the tunnel and released a crazy (no longer of this world) squirrel in front of our car to test the ‘rookie’ on his first official drive.
Thanks to the fantastic CO’s, Larry and Arron, for planning these adventures that allow all of us to play hard & safely with our fine S2k’s!
