Post Engine Almost stalls when cold and around 8000 RPM

[SIZE=7] Hey guys I have a 2001 Honda S2K and recently I have noticed that when it is cold and Im driving through the gears or even in neutral that when I get up to around 8000 RPMs the engine acts like its not getting enough fuel or like a cyclinder is misfiring or something. When the engine warms up the problem goes away. The engine never stalls out completely just runs like crap for a second than catches for a second then runs like crap for a second ect. till its warmed up. I was thinking possibly it could be a coil starting to give out or bad plugs or something. Let me know what you think and if there is any tests I can do to help me figure out whats going on! Thanks guys!

You're redlining the engine before it reaches temperature? That is terrible for the car. VTEC won't even engage until you reach operating temp (3 bars on an AP1 I think). Unless I'm not reading this right, my advice to you is to take it easy and keep the engine at 3k or below for the first few minutes until it has time to build oil temp. Your coolant and transmission also need to warm before you start hitting the stresses of 8k+ rpm.

Be gentle with her she needs to warm up to you before you get her that high.

No. The ECU is doing this DELIBERATELY to PREVENT DAMAGE to the engine. It lowers the rev limit when cold.

NO. It should run 'good' at *proper operating temperature* which is 3 bars on your gauge.

Although, given that you've probably done this multiple times by now, there's no guarantee your engine will ever run properly.
