so one of my map lights finally gave out. I've been very annoyed that they are so dim, and having 1/2 makes it even worse. Ran down to Lee's Electronics (awesome service. end plug) and picked up some stuff to make a custom LED map light thingy.

There are already pre-built LED map lights but of course, for our space challenged S2000, there isn't much room for those huge LED panels.

I bought a casing that was similar in size to the original bulb, a nice white LED (but still soft, not harsh white) and a resistor and got to work.

finished product. the resistor is nicely tucked into the casing. Time will tell if there will be heating issues with the glue gun glue...


installed and compared to the old light. Photos were just adjusted a tad for exposure. No crazy lighting enhancements...

theehhe u got the first asian mod bigger mirror rear view , i have one too XD. Just wondering though do you have any pics of the circuit board?

 

haha i never thought of it that way, but yeah.. it's so much better, esp when the top is down...

the circuit board? i'm assuming you're talking about the pre-made LED circuit boards?

i'm going back to the electronic's shop to replace the LED. i'll take a picture of the bigger circuit board to show how it doesn't fit
