Default New owner...thanks to this site

Bought a Black '02 Saturday..... and the break-in period is killing me!

Background: I'm a Porschephile, having enjoyed a 968. I'd looked for a used Boxster S for four months. But with a model update happening later this month I just decided against the price premium. So I did some research here, went and drove the S2K, and decided it was the right value/performance fit.

My wife's happy - she loves Honda's manual trasmissions and I spent less. (She's awesome, fully supporting my sports car purchase despite our first child on the way!) I'm happy, I can drive it like a nicer civic for my 8 mile roundtrip to/from work each day (to protect the engine) - yet enjoy a killer car on the weekends and long summer evenings. I'll be using it year-round (in Rochester, NY), which may devalue its resale, but I'm crazy that way (drove my 968 in winter too).

I want to offer major compliments to all on this site, it is MILES above any Boxster or other Porsche site in functionality, completeness and organization. I should know, I lurked for hours on them, and scrutinized every eBay and Autotrader listing out there while looking.

Thanks for the collective help and happy motoring to all!

Welcome aboard. This forum seems to have influenced quite a few people in their decision to purchase S2000's. I read everything I could find on the cars I was considering for about six months before finally making up my mind. The enthusiasm here was the deciding factor.

Happy Motoring

Congratulations and welcome.

A friend on mine used to have a 968 convertible. 248 hp? Watercooled 4 cylinder if I remember. I drove it about 3 years ago before he sold it. Do you think the s2000 is any quicker? I can't remember that far back.

Have fun with the car.

Congrats, and I agree, s2ki.com rocks as far as boards go. Very little flaming and a wealth of accurate information and intelligent posters. I, too, doubt I would have purchased without the help and patience of a few of the members.
