Wilwood Rear BBK opinions?
Hello,
Does anyone have tryed or mounted the new rear BBK of wilwood?
i am talking about this one:
http://www.wilwood.com/BrakeKitListRear.as...S2000&year=2006
Does this kit fit behind a 17" OEM wheel without any spacers?
Any opinions?
i see that the disc is vented instead of solid which i think is nice + they have the cable for the parking brake which helps for the road use...any other comments?

That is a one piston floating caliper design, just like stock. I don't see that kit being a worthwile upgrade, especially at $1400.
the caliper is not the important part my friend...the disc is the one.
you have a much better disc which is vented instead of solid, apart of being bigger, running at a much cooler temp for breaking improvement in trackday use.
i have a front BBK from TAROX with 6 pot caliper, which is not much better than the standard factory brakes but it never gets hot in circuit and the rear doesn t follow the rithmn of the front brakes.
i know a lot of people with standard brakes that during a trackday have destroyed the factory discs.
most of the times you dont need to improve the caliper to have better braking power...just have a look to the J´s racing rear BBK, you will see they use the standard OEM caliper and they change the disc and pads only.

Get some new pads, rotors, and lines and save yourself $1000.

I think you just proved my point for me.

The j s Racing kit changes the disc for a vented one like the wilwood kit.
I already have lines and ferodo ds 2500 pads and the rotor is the weakest point.that is why i wanted to change the rotor.
But if i stick with the originales measures ans solid rotor it will overheat again.
A vented disc wouldn't fit into the original S2000 rear caliper I tried to do it myself.
The OEM rear caliper is designed for max. 14mm discs.
The smallest vented disc I've seen is 18mm. So no chance...
It may be possible to use the NSX rear calipers which are designed for vented discs. The NSX rear vented discs are cheaper here in Germany than the solid S2000 discs. It's weird...
I'm under the impression that the J's rear brake Kit is modified NSX stuff. Just sold for millions of Bucks due to the J's Logo on it!

i've been looking into rear BBK options also.
looks like the J's rear BBK does use stock calipers. the vented rotors are custom made to fit s2000 calipers. you can see how thin the rotors are. i'm sure they would mentioned it if it would require NSX calipers (since NSX rear calipers cost $600 each). also, from the picture, it looks like stock s2000 rear calipers.
S2000 Rear Big Brake Kit (Caliper less)
Parts# RBK-S1-NN Price $3,338.00
Based on numerous feedback from actual racing experiences, J’s racing has chosen the best combination of brake pads, rotor diameter, materials and caliper construction for the ultimate Brake Performance Kit. The rotor is a 2 piece ventilated type rotor and has 10 slits dramatically reducing the rotor temperature which will prevent heat related problems.
Kit includes: 320mm x 14mm large ventilated 2 piece structure rotor - x 2 Aluminum floating bell housing (Anodized) Aluminum offset bracket Caliper bracket (designed for the stock caliper) Brake pads (Exclusively manufactured by “Seidoya” for this kit)
All parts of this kit are made in Japan under the strict quality control.

and finally what solution did you took for the rear discs?

have a look here:
http://www.gotuning.com/product_info.php?m...roducts_id=1156
you will see that the j´s racing kit modifies a little bit the OEM calipers to fit correctly the vented discs i think...it is the red piece on the caliper.
so they are not using NSX calipers but modifying the stock one.
