Have you ever been to an autocross?
If you've never done any car control / driver's skill activities in your S2000, why not?
I thought autocross was silly and never bothered before. I also thought I was a good driver.
The mention of Chuck (RED MX5) got me reminiscing. I never would have started if it wasn't for him. He kept hounding me until I tried it. And it was awesome. And showed me how much I sucked as a driver. And showed me how silly it was to keep upgrading the cars when my skills were the weakest part of the package.
So some of the things I didn't realize before starting:
1. People are super nice.
2. Nobody is going to judge you for lack of skill unless you have attitude.
3. You don't need any upgrades above stock for your first time.
4. Wear on your car is minimal if you work your way up to the limits.
5. It's a dang good time.
If you haven't done it, please post why!

My response to all possible responses:
Yes, regularly - cool
Yes, once or infrequently - yeah, I know, you're busy and don't want to be shagging cones a lot, but you know it's fun.
No, I do track events instead - tracking is fun in a different way. You get more speed and faster turning, but not as much turning. Something to consider - I've met people who are awesome at tracking but suck at autocross. I've never met someone who's awesome at autocross but sucks at tracking.
No, but I plan on it - every April I have between 6 and 12 s2000 owners they want to autox. By the following November maybe 2 of them actually did. Stop planning and start doing!
No, I don't want to damage my car - you won't. Really. They're just cones
No, I don't want to spend the money - Find a small club with low prices. $20 - $35 isn't that bad for how much fun it is
No, I'm afraid I'll get hooked - you would. but is getting hooked on something a bad thing?
No, I don't want to look stupid - you won't. Every autoxer knows beginners won't be good. We weren't when we started. Don't be afraid that we'll start to think you're a bad driver - we think that of you now.
No, there's no place nearby (or I don't know where the nearest club is) - there probably is. Ask around.

Autocross is great - its a car control event. It gives you the chance to really learn the car as you are constantly shifting its weight on the tires, and its relatively low speed and short, so you won't cook the brakes or really have to worry about wadding up the car.

autox is a lot of fun. i went in my s2000 for the first time last year and it was a blast. it's fast and fun enough to learn your car, and short enough where you don't eat through pads and fluids unlike a traditional track day
I enjoyed autocross but the small amount of time driving left me feeling kind of wanting more. Did it several times always 2+ hours each way for me. Found tracking much more value for the $. Closest tracks are 4+hours but I still get much more out of it. My first time at Watkins last summer I ended up coming in early on my last session as I was so mentally cooked that it was the prudent thing to do. That never happened at autocross. That being said I still would like to autocross again but we'll see.

( I said the same thing last summer too
between $$ and poor timing it just never happened )
