Default MY00 going to 17" wheels

Hello All,

I have a MY00 and have been running the stock wheels and stock size tires since I purchased two years ago.

I purchased AP2V3 wheels and had tires mounted on them this morning. I went with the CR sizes 215/45-17 front and 255/40-17 rears.

First I love the way the AP2V3 wheels look.

I drove it a little today, not to far but on some roads that I am very familiar with. The tires still need to break in a little, wear off the releasing agent and it was only about 60*. I didn't push it but I can tell the car is much more stable. I used to have to "wait" a second for the rear to plant the tires in a corner and then get back on the gas. There isn't any of that with the 17", the ass is just more planted then before. I noticed the biggest difference under braking, the car used to "dance" under harder braking. No longer, it was much more solid and again stable.

I can give a more deatailed report on this once the weather warms up some and the tires have a couple of hundered miles on them.

I would say if you are looking for a great upgrade for an AP1 and you are on the stock 16" move up to the 17" and wider tire you will definetely notice a big difference.

I noticed a definite improvement in handling and stability when I put the Cr's on my car.

Very nice! AP2 wheels _fill_ the car out better, IMHO. Nice!

I love those wheels.

Looks mighty fine Kevin. I guess I won't be able to keep up with you on the drives now

Any plans to do a drop?

First off Lee, I don't think you will have problems keeping up.

And...no I don't plan to drop the car. I wanted to keep it stock but move up to 17" wheels. Really the fronts are almost indentical in overall size compaired to the 16's but the rears are huge compaired to the 16's. I would say there is 1 1/2 to 2 inchs more rubber per tire then the 16's. Which for anyone that has a MY00 it really settles the car and somewhat builds in some more understeer just because it increases the stagger.

I'd take OZ 17" over 18" any day...
