Default What H/U would you recommend?

What Head Unit would you recommend or do you use?

Required:
1. AM/FM/CD
2. Priced under ~$400
3. Plays nicely with s2k controls without any time delay that others have metioned about the PAC SWI, etc.
4. Fits in s2k (duh)
5. Will be connected to stock front speakers (replacing shortly) and Lucid rears (polk). (300/4 jl amp & stealth box in the trunk)

Bonus:
6. MP3 Player
7. Relatively recent model
8. Anything else?

Thanks in advance!

Well, if you want it to work with the dash controls without the time delay of the PAC-SWIX, the only solution that I know of is mine!

I can guarantee my device to work with all Alpine head units that use the Alpine RUE-4187 remote (all recent Alpines with remotes within your price range use this remote).

For your budget and your requirements, I would recommend the Alpine 7894....

http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S-5S9xt...00&I=500CDA7894

1. AM/FM/CD - YES/YES/YES
2. Priced under ~$400 $399 Through Crutchfield, probably even cheaper through a local shop.
3. Plays nicely with s2k controls without any time delay that others have metioned about the PAC SWI, etc. See above
4. Fits in s2k (duh) YES - Single DIN
5. Will be connected to stock front speakers (replacing shortly) and Lucid rears (polk). (300/4 jl amp & stealth box in the trunk) 27 watts RMS/60 peak x 4 channels for your front and rear speakers, "Bass Engine Plus" and 4-volt front/rear/subwoofer preamp outputs for your Sub Amp .

Bonus:
6. MP3 Player YES!
7. Relatively recent model YES
8. Anything else? YES! Switchable to amber display to match stock controls!

BAM!!!!

Hey Jrod,

There's that "Posse on Broadway" plug again!! I was playing around with the 7998 at Good Guys today, and wasn't quite sure how the extended face would work with the radio door. Do you have to remember to open the radio door every time you turn on the radio? Can you have it on and still keep the door closed?

Dood I am telling I love this radio! my 7993 was cool but this thing blows it away. I always leave my radio door down. the face plate hides its self once you turn the key off and automaticly pops out when you turn the key on.

I may have to take you up on your audio mod.

Do the 7894 & 7995 have a 'flipping' face causing the door to have to be open when they are turned on?

7995 face plate extends to change CD and you can also change the angle. It's not like Kenwood Dmask where you have to remember to open the radio door when you start your car.
