Default New to Old. What do you think

This has been running through my mind for weeks now. I have a Rallye Red 2008 Civic Si coupe. It is of course prestine with minor mods none of which have to do with the engine. It has H&R springs 18" wheels and a VIS CF Hood and some OEM upgrades.

2 Weeks ago I found a 04 S2000, Silverstone with all black interior. $14,900 with a good chance I can talk them down and would probably get about 15k + a little more for my Si, I currently owe 16,8 on it. After doing some calculations on both monthly payment and insurace I would save about $175 a month. I have wanted an S2000 since 2000 lol the only downside I can come across with on this one is the front passenger fender was replaced due to a truck backing into it in a parking lot. I have not seen the car in person yet but the salesmen has sent me some detailed pictures and it appears to look like nothing ever happened. No color differences no gaps and so on.

So really do I have anything to lose here? Or am I getting more for less money and the car I have always wanted. I was also kind of on the edge about the silverstone but thanks to S2ki.com and the galleries and members I can see that S2000 = Sex on wheels in any color.

Performance is basically the same, but you are going to rwd, no stability control, and a smaller car that takes expensive tires and insurance. The plus is you get a convertible.

Also, never trust a salesman - I'd look very hard for any damage to the car or signs of repair.

Actually my insurance would go down about $20 a month weird but true. Is the performance really all that close though? And RWD is another attraction to it that I forgot to mention. I am definitely thorough when it comes to looking at used cars. I pick them apart piece by piece.

I'd keep the Si for another year, get out from being upside down on your loan and wait until 06+ S2000s get into your range.

bring a trusted body shop guy there, and then there is nothing that they can hide.
i agree. never trust any salesman.

i have tested si a few times, and own a 06 S now. stock to stock. S is faster, but not a lot faster. but the convertible is just too loud for me. i need HT soon.

i like 06+ too. flash pro ftw.

I traded in an 07 Miata for an 01 S2000 a week ago. So far, I have no regrets.

I have a 99 prelude which runs basically the same numbers as a new civic si when it comes to 0 to 60 and 1/4 mile. Now i have an s2000. there is no was you can compare their performance. The s2000 is way faster

Ok let me throw this out there... lets say this S meets all my standards it ahs 48k miles on it, my 08 has 30k miles on it. What do you think I can talk them down to? I realize the the 06+ have the e-throttle system like the Si, I had a 99 Civic prior to this one and I must agree with most when you can tell the difference in responsiveness with an actual cable, IMO.

I can just about guarantee you 3 years from now the S2000 will have depreciated less than the Civic as well.

I grabbed a 03 S2000 over a new Civic Si sedan and I have 3 kids, a wife that can't drive a stick, and I go year round in Chicago.

There is absolutely no substitute for RWD, and the S2K is your only chance to see what Honda can do with it. (unless you can deal with a 20 year old NSX)

No regrets from me.

2004 S2000s are not rare. IMO, I would sell the Civic Si first and get out from underneath it, then find a S2000.

If you have to trade it in, return the Civic Si to stock, sell the aftermarket stuff then see what they will do.

$14.9 for a 50K mile 2004 with a accident history is not a great deal IMO. Throw in them hosing you on the civic (most likely) and you will be even more underwater on the S (which will have higher maintenance costs).
