On again, off again, on again, off again....
And third time is the charm right? Indeed, this is my 3rd s2000. Brief history of my s2000 relationships first. Purchased a 2001 BB back in 2004. The car was so much more enjoyable and fun to drive (no to mention faster) than my 2003 Tiburon. I really loved it....until random issues with it started creeping up. The top leaked bad, and the car almost hydrolocked from a crappy CAI.
I was fed up and traded it for a G35. Bad decision, the G35 is a monster, it's huge, has body roll, bleh. Didn't take that long for me to start going through S2000 withdrawl. So I traded the G35 back for a 2000 GPW, which I had for a long time. However, that car ran like shit: tons of smoke poured out of the exhaust in VTEC, I regularly had to burp the coolant system to prevent the car from overheating, it guzzled oil like there was no tomorrow, and the headgasket was also leaking very bad.
Traded that car for a Maserati. A few more car changes later I decided to try an 08 STi out. The STi is so much faster, more practical, awd...should be great right? Wrong, driving the STi honestly felt like driving a regular sedan with some balls. It was decently fast, but it just didn't have that much driving excitement, and had terrible body roll (but goddamn is that a sexy 5 door vehicle...imo). Plus last summer I went the entire summer without a convertible, I was unsure if I could do it again, ha ha ha.
I then checked the trade-in value on my STi, and it was pretty good. I found a 07 silverstone for sale the other day, visited the dealership yesterday, and now I have my 3rd s2000.
This car is just like the rx7: I try to get away from it, but keep going back. It's so fun to drive. Yes, it's severely lacking in the power and torque department (maybe not severe, MX5s have it worse), but somehow the car is still very enjoyable. The 07 definitely feels different than the AP1s I had. Surprised that there is still a first gear wine, and you still cannot adjust the intermittency of the wipers. I do miss 9000.....but not the twitchy rear.
Anybody else on their second/third/fourth s2000?
Novel over, on with the pics:

You picked up a 996 TT didn't you? Am I completely imagining that? I thought the STi was a DD to keep mileage off the 996?
I also see Bigfoot pretty frequently, and have been abducted by aliens on more than one occasion, so that might put my questions into perspective.
At any rate, congrats on latest S2K purchase (my same year/color/interior).
