I hope he doesn't mind me posting this, but I wanted to encourage others to give this great fellow owner our support and sympathy.

I talked to Mario this morning. He's bruised but has no other injuries, thank God. He was headed to the train station for work when some woman pulled out of a side steet from the right without ever looking to her left. He was doing about 40 mph and told me he had no time for an evasive maneuver other than to avoid broadsiding the woman in the driver's door right where she was sitting. He rammed her in the rear quarter and from the way he described what happened, in sounds like his front end took a serious beating. Sounds like this woman was lucky Mario was behind the wheel of an S2000, otherwise she might have been seriously injured.

I have to say that Mario had me laughing as he described what had happened and, given how heavily modded his car is, he was remarkably good spirited about it all. Some aspects of the story (like what kind of car all the rescue folks thought he was driving) are very funny, but I'll leave that part of the story up to him.

Let's all give some good cheer to Mario.

Were tickets issued and proper blame assigned (to the woman)?

Mario - glad to hear you're ok. Is the car totalled? I know people have gotten on my case about this in the past, but I mean no offense - if it's not salvagable, I really need a windscreen and can't afford to buy it from Honda. Lemme know if you want to sell yours.

What mods were on the car? If it's totalled, are you going to build another s2000 or are you done with the s2000 thing now?

Mario, I feel your pain, the joys of having to take the LIRR to work. Good Luck with the repairs if you are going to do any.

Mario, I'm glad you're OK. And, better yet, that you're able to be philosophical about it. I've never had a serious accident, but if I ever do your reaction will help me appreciate being alive and not to worry about the car.

Here's hoping the bruises go away quickly, the car is either easy to fix or a total loss, and that the woman that caused your accident is a billionaire with a conscience who will buy you a new house and put your kids through college. (Well, if I'm giving you my best wishes I should make them good, right?)

Mario, Glad you are safe and sound. Sorry about your car, hopefully an excellent body shop will be able to bring your car back on the road.

Take care!
