Default Stock block on the street at 700+ whp

Just wanting to see who on here has pushed the stock block to 700+ whp or even 650+ whp and left it that way on the street? Not just doing a dyno pull on c16, q16 or e85 for big numbers and then turn it down for the street. I want to know who has kept their stock block on the big tune numbers on the street and kept c16, q16 or e85 in it. I'm trying to gauge if it is going to be safe for me to keep my stock block at 700+ whp on the street without it scattering. Some guys and even my tuner believes that it wont be safe to leave it at 700+ whp on the street and thinks it'll be a ticking time bomb. Honestly, what do you guys think? Think of it as your car and you dont want it to scatter. Dont just say, "yeah, it'll be fine" even if you think it may not because you dont care if it blows or not because it's not your ride. I want some honest answers from some honest stand up guys that know whether it'll be ok or not.

Thanks for the help.

honestly..the stock block @600whp is not going to be very reliable for very long imho..

i think youre asking for trouble pushing it past that even on higher octane..

i dyno'd my car and i havent turned the b00st down since that day..id never want to make a pass for peak numbers then turn it down..

Honestly, I would never even try and make those numbers on stock parts. I know it can be done, and has been, but it's on borrowed time at those power levels.

go for it who cares, if it blows it blows. keep a spare motor ready, either stock or built, ready to swap in!

Thanks for the comments guys.

When I talked with Jon Lee from IP a while back, he says they have never seen any failures from the stock block with a good tune and says that it's safe for 800 hp, which would be about 700 whp. Supposedly the stock rods and pistons are very strong according to him. He may just be saying that because he knows he will get my business if it blows. LOL I suppose I will let my tuner decide what he thinks. If he thinks it'll be safe at 700 whp while he is tuning it, we will leave it, but if he thinks it'll be safer to back it off, we will pull it back down to 650-675 whp.

i dont think you'll get a clear answer. no one really knows how far the stock block can be pushed. i say you should do it and see how long it lasts though! good luck.

just asking why running 700whp all the time is necessary,i would think that if you are running 650whp its more than enough for the street. If you get a better chance at a more reliable car by dropping 50hp why not just run 650. At thise power levels is an extra 50 whp really that noticeable/usable on the street? i would Just up the boost when it is nessecary and save some life on your motor. btw beautiful build!

This is true.

Personally, I like seeing what it can do.

I'll be seeing what I can make, and I will for the record turn it down.

On my past tune, I made ~500whp, and after the dyno, it only saw full boost 3 times that summer.

I was holding my own against friends/etc so why turn it up. I only turn it up when the time is needed, no point in running around town on a 700whp tune, especially when it's simple to flip a switch and go from 400whp, to 600whp.

Beyond that add some race fuel and have fun @ the track.

Just my opinion of course.

The more of us that push the envelope, and see what happens, the more information we will all get. Of course it could come back to bite anyone of us as well..always a gamble, doesn't matter if you are on a stock motor, or making 1000whp on BUILT parts...you never know.
