New search 'beta' online
I've released the first 'beta' version of the new search engine for S2KI. It's the first because it is the first version stable and secure enough for public use and it's 'beta' because it's still a work in progress, ie. not finished.
I'd like to get your feedback on the quality of results you are getting and to have you try it out and see what you think. You can get to it directly from https://www.s2ki.com/search-beta or you can use the link found on the regular search form right under where you normally put your keyword.
Best advice,
Do your search with the old search engine and have a look at the results.
Click the "try beta" link from the results page and it will rerun your search with the new engine.
Compare results, let me know which offers the best set of possible matches.
TIP: If you are getting more than 1000 matches for your search then you haven't been specific enough about what you are looking for.
Same is true for old and new.
Searching for "spoon" is effectively meaningless unless you think reading 100000 topics vaguely related to the word "spoon" is a fun thing to do. Add more depth to your question like "spoon brakes" or better yet "installing spoon brakes" to get half decent results.
Don't laugh!! 80% of all searches are for a single keyword, many of those are probably yours
Have fun, let me know how it goes in this thread.

Will we eventually be able to choose what to sort by? right now it seems to be by date created, will we be able to choose by most recent post?
It also searches the whole site vs a particular forum.
I'm sure this is due to it being in beta but I just want to be sure.
Thanks

I'm working on a site software upgrade that will replace virtually all of the code including search code. This month? hopefully? maybe?
I've been working on and testing the transition for months but I'm nearing the end.

Here goes...
From time to time i have tried searching about various different things inside s2ki.com
I exclude searches done in Greek text because that doesnt count.
Most of these times i cant find what i am looking for altho i know that there is "somewhere oute there"
because i have read it before !
Energetic usually spots the darn thing and gives me the link proving me an utter useless piece of humanity.
Onto the current situation which kinda conflicts with another issue i have spotted on the forum's options (also have noticed it in the Greek classifieds).
I was looking for my Seller Feedback.
1)Search ---> Nabu feedback ---> Nothing.
2)We manualy go the seller feedback forum ---> Try tο find the topic ---> scroll down to page 2 ----> Nothing, topic does not exist.
3)Search ---> Nabu Feedback ---> Nothing ---> Beta search egnine ---> Topic Found.
First thing, why does the seller feedback forum stops at the second page altho i know there are a lot of other topics lurking in the background,in which if you post something they will pop back up?
Second thing. When is the beta search egnine going to replace the current one.
I know the beta aint got any filters to play with but from the little time i have spent with it i can tell that the results somehow come in a more organised way, sort of auto sorted by date and a lot easier to browse.
I know it aint easy and i also know that i cant even imagine the work needed for something like this to work but i thought i would ask.
