At Port Renfrew we stop to re-group before the "real" drive -

The cross-island drive is on an old logging road that has been resurfaced. It scores a 10/10 by the S2KI Oregon group!

Our drive begins with a short roadside check by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Then we were off -

We have a photo-op along the way -

Then it is back to the real business at hand -

It was an outstanding drive - 45 minutes of great twisties! Our timing was perfect as we didnt' run into rain until we were heading back to Victoria.

Day 2 – Victoria!

...

Today was part of a three day holiday in Victoria – the birthday celebration for Queen Victoria. There were people in period costumes, bands playing and all manner of celebrations.

We had another stunning day for weather as everyone went their separate ways to explore the city -

Your COs (and significant-others) enjoyed High Tea at the Empress -

In the afternoon a group of us drove out to Butchart Gardens where we spent a couple of hours enjoying the plants and landscaping -

In the evening Garret (with Dave Donovan's help) arranged for a group dinner at the Keg -

Garret receives the bill and realizes that as the organizer, HE gets to pay!

We head out for a tour of the old neighborhoods, parks and waterfront homes, led by our Victoria S2KI hosts -

And stop for a photo-op -

No, Julie! The cars are behind you!

We toured a couple of nice parks, Victoria University campus and drove up to a viewpoint with a commanding, 360 degree view of Victoria -

Then it was on to the ferry terminal in Sidney -

We arrived safely. It was great to see our buddies from Victoria.

We had some fun roads and only a little rain.

More updates to come.

I had a great time..., was good meeting all of you. Sorry the trip took so long Larry..., I wasn't expecting on having to stop so many times and we didn't include the time it would take to get from downtown out to where I started the trip last weekend.

Anyone wanted a Vancouver Island e-badge that was on the cruz today, let me know. I think I can arrange it.

Save, thanks for putting the drive plan together. Save for that bit of rain at the end, we all had a great time with it. It was nice meeting you and the other BC brethren. I, for one, am very appreciatve of the guidance given to get us all where we needed to go.

oh, and also......FIRST PIC POSTED FROM CANADA!!!
