Default Barrel Oak Winery Meet - Cheese Swap

In addition to the excellent food and festivities that Jeff and BOW will be providing, I thought it would be fun if we could have a Cheese Swap. Participation is not required for BOW, but encouraged.

How it works - Bring your favorite cheese (s) - pre-sliced or cubed. For those going on the drive, I'll have a small cooler in my car - but we may need another cooler or two to store this stuff. Bring a small board/platter to serve it on. Crackers too if you prefer

At BOW, we'll set up, and those that contribute are welcome to try other cheeses with their wines.

I would ask that if you are not contributing, that you respect those that are participating and do not take this as an opportunity to help yourself.

Please post your name and the type of cheese you are thinking of bringing:

Leadfootgirl (Alison) - Havarti, possibly Manchego
Gilly_s2kFreak (Steve) - Gouda - including bacon smoked
Magikow (Jason) - Toe Cheese
+1 (Janet) - aged white cheddar and a chipotle cranberry cheese with cracked pepper crackers and olives
TopDownLaguna (Jamie?) - Swiss
Budman05 (Lou) - whatever's in the Hills

NO cheese food product please:P must have so much cheese curd.. we have standards here.

And Steve - I find Trader Joe's to have pretty decent prices (and variety) of cheeses. Just don't buy too far in advance since the wrapping promotes moisture for some reason and soft cheeses don't seem to fair too well in the fridge.

I'd like to join in the cheese swap. Not sure what I'll bring yet I want to check out Wegmans and I will post back up what I am bringing. Might also hit the olive bar because it is delicious with cheese.

Btw...my name is Janet.

sounds good. I was at your house after the Old meets New the other day (part of the new group you didn't know). I'll be less rude this time and introduce myself at BOW

No idea what BOW is, or where or when, so probably not coming but a cheese swap is a great idea.
