In my previos post I told you about some leaks of coolant in the expansion tank. Today I went to the the dealer and guess what... there was oil in the tank.

They told they are going to talk to Honda to replace the engine...

A high-tech car with 4 months, 3000 miles is incredible...

Watch your oil consumption...now I understand where was going.

I am thinking seriously in selling the car after repair, I have never heard of this in a Boxster

No offence intended S2k_Spain,

However, I don't think you have really been paying attention to the Boxster Board if you have never heard of
their complete engine failures on early production models.

I am sorry about your S, but making sweeping (uninformed) generalizations like this really seems inappropriate.

ReedZ,

You are right. It seems that some of the first Boxster 2.5 did had thid problem. Porsche changed the engine even out of warranty.

But anyway, Imagine my frustration...a new engine, a new break-in, and pending questions that really worry me like cleaning the hole water circuit, radiator, ( heating ?)...

S2k_Spain,

I understand your frustration completely. I hope that
you can come to an agreement with you local dealer
which will leave you with peace of mind and a reliable
car. This is the first I have heard of your particular
problem. Hoopefully your S isn't terminal.
May it be solved quickly so that you can continue
to drive safely and confidently.

Good Luck,

James

Doesn't this usually indicate a blow headgasket or warped head? (overheating?)

Just to share my experience:

The car never was overheated. It always showed 3 bars on the temp ind. Never had any light warnings etc.It also felt very powerfull all the time.

What I noticed since the very begining was the oil compsumption, but reading other posts here I thought it was normal.

Also I noticed a "burnt smell" when I start to vtec.

Has any of you heard of this problem

I've been trolling this and other Honda S2000 boards for quite some time, as if that makes me a credible source . First I've heard of it.

Stick with it. I shared the same sentiments when I experienced the now infamous #4 cylinder issue. Honda will fix your car and you will fall back in love with it. I did.

You problem is slightly different. Read, Update: 8 F20Cs have piston/cylinder failures, if you haven't already. Whatever the cause, this news is frustrating. Sorry for your problems.

OK, now you've got my attention, I was one of the people telling you not to worry about it (I guess I was wrong, Sorry )

Since I've got the same slight crusty drool on my overflow tank I'm wondering if I too have a problem.

Couple of quick questions:

How obvious was the oil in the coolant once you knew? Could you tell by looking at the coolant in the overflow tank?

If you were loosing oil to the coolant and the reverse was not happening (no coolant going to oil pan) then the coolant level must have been rising on you, did you notice any of that?

This could suck!

Thanks for the update.

RT

When we opened the tank yesterday the oil presence was absolutly obvious. No doubt.

I did not noticed before, because in my garage the light is very bad, but there was an evident brown color on the coolant.

The dealer says that the leaks were due to overpreassure coming form the oil circuit.

I hope you don't have this problem....new engine
