Topic of discussion: Drives
My first S, an 03 Sebring, took me on many a roadtrips and the scenery was BEAUTIFUL - from the Redwood forest, to the Golden Gate bridge, through the streets of Hollywood, through the deserts of Arizona, downtown Atlanta, THE DRAGON, the Ozarks, alongside the Mississippi river, right next to the arch in St. Louis, the badlands, to S. Dakota to say hello to the former presidents, through what seemed like the LONGEST FREAKIN STATE IN THE COUNTRY (Montana) and good ole Washington. But since Ive gotten my AP2, I havent been on any drives nor seen many arranged for the PacNW. Granted Ive only had it a month, but Ive been craving for a nice drive.
So Ive been snoopin around Oregon's forum a bit here and there and I was skimming through their drive calender. It shows multiple drives a year. I then look back in PacNW's forum and.....nothing. Aside from the Mt. Baker cruise, there's nothing.
I, myself, tried to arrange one a few years back when I had my AP1, around the Olympic peninsula (which was awesome by the way
) and the group consisted of me, 3 other Ss and 1 NSX. Pretty sad, I know.
Now, I dont know whether it was the lack of interest, the length of the drive (It did take us about 9-10 hours that day), the location, the organizer, etc., but it was a rather pathetic turnout. For a long drive like that, a small group is sweet but I was hoping for a better turnout.
ANYWAYS, other than this being a rather strange form of catharsis for me, I was just wondering why its so quiet here in the PacNW forum when it comes to drives. Oregon's trips seem to have amazing roads and their pics appear to show a consistent list of attendees. We have what.....Mt. Rainer...Cascade Loop, the Peninsula, Chuckanut (which Im planning to check out myself here soon), and thats about all I can think about.
I just wanna kinda liven up this place. Anyone down for a drive or have any suggestions on where they would wanna go?
I just drove up to Squamish last night and the road is AMAZING and the view is breathtaking. Squamish is in BC on the way to Whistler. Got to play with an Audi A4 on the way back.
Anyway, what do you guys think?

i'm down for a drive. if its an extensive drive and a long enough notice and on one of my days off then I would be down to go. i've only been on a few drives with this crew. back when i was living in california I would go on a cruise at least once a month with the 8thcivic club
I did one drive in 2004 (Mt. Baker) soon after I bought my car. I'll never do another one.
I save my fast driving for the track; drives seem (from my sample of one, and anecdotal evidence of others) to become a competition, with multiple participants driving crazy speeds on public roads.
No thanks; I don't want to be anywhere near that.

Richee : i'm up for a drive up to chuckanut, my wife mentioned last night that i should have planned a short northend drive for today since we didn't have the time to make the rainier drive. chuckanut is a short scenic drive (great photos), but we could go via kayak point to stannwood past conway and la conner then north to chuckanut and stop at larabee state park on chuckanut. let me know if there's any interest and i'll post it
