I have a 07 with brake issue and it started happening on the original OEM pads and rotors. Every once in a while the car would not want to stop. Pedal feel was solid and not dropping to the floor, but the car was not slowing down much at all. As if I was experienceing brake fade, without really using the brakes. I figured I had glazed the OEM pads, so I bought some Bobcats and new rotors. Even after the change the new rotors and pads are doing the same thing. Brakes are fine one minute and then out of the blue I can’t stop again. Pedal is solid, but even almost standing on the pedal there is no stopping power. I know it is not brake fade, since I am not braking hard before I have the time where I can’t stop. I dont think it is a stuck caliper, since I am not getting pull to the left or right. I am going to try a brake fluid flush with the hopes that I have some condensation buildup in the fluid, otherwise I am out of ideas. I have searched the board here and I could not find anyone with a smilar issue. Does anyone have any ideas?

You aren't alone. A bunch of people with 06+ are having this issue in autox. I haven't found a solution yet but I'm trying some more aggressive rear pads this weekend to see if it fixes anything.

 

Let us know what you find. My first guess would be the brake fluid.

 

John, what's your tire situation? are you running stock or have you replaced tires? how's the wear front vs rear if they are stock.

 

I am running Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec...225 in the front and 255 in the rear on stock wheels. Only a thousand or so miles on them and they seem to wearing correctly.

Hmm? 225/45 & 255/40?

 

The most likely bet is fluid or possibly a caliper guide pin.

I would bleed the brakes as soon as possible. But if the fluid looks low, lift it up and:

1 Check around the car after driving for any obvious brake fluid leakage
2 Check level in master cylinder
3 Confirm no leak around master cylinder (underneath, along lines, proportioning valve)
4 Check calipers and lines (if no leak, check pads for unusual wear and guide pins)
5. If all looks good, bleed away.

I'd be surprised if that doesn't take care of it.

Edit: Too much time for a fluid issue. Check your pins.

 

I was thinking the guide pins also. I was planning to clean and re-grease them when I do the fluid flush.
