Noooooooooo They're supposed to discontinue the S2k, not build a new one. (So that ours stay rare and unique, and I won't have to buy a new one.) I would like that engine in mine though. Even better would be a 2.5 liter 5 cycl making 300hp and 250 lbs torque.

It shouoldn't too much. This is probably another reason why they're sticking with a 4bangers. The engine will be slightly heavier, however the added weights in the engine can be compensated by the fact that it's a coupe and not a convertible.

I was planning to pick up a hardtop, but that can wait if the coupe is coming

Feels already have a 2.3 stroker kit for the S2000 which you can buy TODAY. I read the thing in a hong kong magazine (option Fans)
Dynoed at 231hp at the wheels!

I don't understand what you're saying. Coupes tend to be lighter, not heavier. And since the added weight of the convertible is mostly in the back half of the car, I think the weight distribution question is valid. However, I'm sure that it's nothing that can't be compensated for.

The added weight of a convertible is in the middle, between the front and back wheels. In the case of the S2000 it's the X-bone chassis that gives it the rigidity of a coupe (and the weight of one too).

That said, adding the fifth cylinder won't add much weight. You could even it out with a reinforced diff.

250hp for an '05 model? When the S2000 originally came out, nothing new could touch it for the money. But even Neons have broken past 200hp now. Another 2-3 model years and 10+ more hp? Give me a break. Honda needs to put some R&D into forced induction.

The cloth top, metal framework, electric motors, and finishing pieces DO weigh significantly more than the coupe's metal top would weigh.
