Talking 2010 S2K Challenge #10 - SOW (CCW) - 11/7/10

Our tenth 2010 S2K Challenge event was held on November 7, 2010 at Streets of Willow (CCW).

Weather: Pretty much optimal conditions for FAST lap times! High of 64.5F and a low of 38.2F. Winds kicked up in the afternoon, with gusts up to 36.8mph.

Format was fast lap time of the day with pre-gridding based on lap times from prior sessions. It is consensus among the competitors that this is the preferred timing format.

LAP TIMES:

Stock Class

Competition was extremely tight in with approximately 1 second separating the top five finishers in Stock Class. Albert Gavieres came in first with a very impressive 1:28.7. Doug Chan came in second with a 1:29.1. Richard Seegman (aka “The Sheriff”) squeaked by in third, clocking a 1:29.7 in only one session because he decided to go off-roading in the dirt in his twitchy-butt car.

1st Place received a a free alignment from Evasive Motorsports and 2nd and 3rd place received Speedventures gift certificates.

Street Class

The Street Class podium saw some familiar names with Ben Rigaud scoring his second 1st place finish with a lap time of 1:26.6. Nam Yoon, after placing first in the last 4 events, was knocked down to 2nd place, with a fast time of 1:26.9. Fil Craciun came in 3rd with a 1:27.5 after receiving some quality instruction from pro driver Charles Ng.

1st Place received free valve adjustment from Tony Fuch Racing a and 2nd and 3rd place received Speedventures gift certificates.

Modified Class

The Modified Class really stepped up the competition by shattering lap recorded at SOW from the previous year. Jim Tway clocked an amazing 1:22.7 to secure 1st place. Ed Lee and Mike Tsay battled all day, and swapped positions at least 4 times during the day but Mike was able to eek by with a 1:23.2 in the last session of the day, while Ed managed to clock a 1:23.5.

1st Place received a free full fluid swap from Rising Star Motors and 2nd and 3rd place received Speedventures gift certificates.

Class Standings

Hope to see you all at our FINAL event of the year at Street of Willow on December 4, 2010...cheers!

Very happy to set my personal best at SOW (CCW).

Fast lap of the day for me was 1:23.5; here is my GPS data:

My camera battery ran out early in the day so here is a video of my 1:23.8 lap:

Maybe I got it wrong, I thought Aaron said 1:21 at the ceremony. Still, 1:22 very fast.
