West Coast Honda Challenge
There has been a committee formed to create the WCHC. Here is a link to the thread with some details and discussion: WCHC thread
Essentially, it will start with a race at Thunderhill in '03, followed by an '04 season. Rules should emulate the ECHC, and here is the link to that site: Honda Challenge
Please help spread the word.
You can be placed on a mailing list for official updates from the WCHC steering committee by emailing:wchondachallenge@hotmail.com

Very nice. Maybe you should talk to Speed Ventures (www.speedventures.net) about tieing into the S2000 Challenge.
Congrats but I'm not in a position to race wheel-to-wheel in my car. It's not quite a beater yet. I would also be reluctant to install the required cage thereby rendering my softtop useless. The cost to race prep an S2000 is prohibitive to all but pro teams.
A civic hatch maybe. I would also think that going to the effort to prep a car would need to be justified by some competition in the field. If I was to drop $50K I'd want someone to race against. I could get into Formula Mazda for less money, run in a spec open wheel group and maybe even find sponsorship.

EFFECT,
We will have several S2000 Challenge and other challenge series events (Corvette, WRX, Miata, Honda?) in the midwest in '03. To date we have events scheduled at Heartland, Road America, Mosport, and at least one other track. Of course these are not, as of yet, wheel-to-wheel racing events; they are RACE QUALIFYING events with AMB timing, etc. where no race prepping is needed.
We also have two events at Texas World Speedway if that's within range. We will publish our preliminary schedule this week (www.speedventures.net), but keep in mind it's only half complete.
I raced a spec miata last weekend at Buttonwillow and I have to say racing is a little more fun than Qualifying, but I also wrecked a few panels and got a front wheel knocked out of alignment, so I'm gonna buy a spec miata of my own. Of the 22 cars in the field, around 10 got either dinged or nicely bashed up. The panels on the miata are 100-200 bucks. If I were rich I'd convert my s2k. The other option is to do a civic as you say, and they're certainly very fast.

Hey Aaron,
are you guys considering doing any events further up the west coast next year?
Portland International Raceway and Pacific Raceways (Seattle) and even Spokane Raceway Park would be a nice change of scenery for your central/northern California regulars, and there are quite a few Pacific Northwest track junkies who would come out.
Those of us who drove down for your two day event atThunderhill really enjoyed it.
Thanks,
Ted

Hey Ted,
Yes, I'm looking into it. It's looking possible that we'll get a Sun/Mon. at PIR. We could get a weekend in the rain, but I'd rather run in the sun.
I'll keep you posted about the seattle area tracks., etc.
How does two events sound in the NW region?

That would be great! Would you try to get Portland and Seattle within a few days of each other to encourage more people from outside the northwest to make the drive?
Let me know if there's any legwork you need done up here.
Are you guys planning any events at Sears Point/Infinion? I'd love to run there, especially if it was withing a week of the S2000 event at Laguna Seca.
