Default Tire Wear

Hey guys, I just looked at my back tires (s03s) and they are getting very worn in the center. They only have 7k miles on them. I was running them with 33psi. So I lowered the back tires a little to decrease wear, but does that seem a little too qucik to wear them down. You guys have seen me drive, I am no Andretti. Do you think the Leaky Creek run did it? They were fine before we left. Any advice or info.

PS Well, I also have a bad habit of trying to kick the back end out when I turn and there is water on the ground. Do you think that has any impact?

PPS I only need one new OEM S02 to have a new back set. Any advice were to get it?

Don't know what the deal is with your tire wear. 33 psi isn't too high.

You should be able to get a new OEM S02 from tirerack.com.

I usually run through rear tires at about 7-8K, fronts at about 17K. Your wear isn't unusual, unfortunately! I got 11K out of my first set, but that included NO spirited driving, hills, twisties, etc (read: no FUN! I was in Florida). I haven't gotten more than 7 or 8K out of a set of rears since I moved here!

Watch your wear closely, especially in this wet weather, when loss of traction is a lot more likely.

Re: P.S. Kicking out the rear tires when it's wet can put added stress on the differential when you finally do get traction. Seeing as that is a weak point on this car anyway, I don't recommend that!

one other note - are you looking at the very inside of the tires? that's where the wear will be the most. so if you see wear in the middle of the tire, I'm quite certain the insides are going to be even more worn out.

6500 miles on my last set of rear tires.

One more reason why I don't use it too much for more mundane driving...the cost per mile is pretty darn high!

I think I've been a bad bad owner . After only 3550 mi. my fronts look fine but my rears are worn down to 3/32 from the wear bars ! I discovered this after my initial test of the rev limiter in 1st gear when I deposited copious amounts of carbon black on the roadway. or . Oh well, since then I gave her a set of Muz mats and a Coastal Metals grill so maybe she'll forgive me.

BTW, a thread in the HouStooks forum says that they have worked out a deal with a local Discount Tire for rear s02's @ $150 + tax installed. This seems like a good deal but I was wondering if anyone else out there has a recommended tire replacement solution.

I have just over 8k miles on my car, and my rears have been on the wear bars for the last 750 miles or so... I'm just going to keep using them until it either rains more, or until there is cord showing, whichever comes first. I have a new set of S-02's sitting in the garage. Just need to get them installed one of these days.
