Default Qube's Miscellaneous Mod #1 - Countersunk, Polished Stock Shift Knob

If you measure from the inside depth to the top of the stock shift knob, there is about an inch of material there. I rebored, retapped, and countersunk the stock knob so that it sits almost an inch lower.

My stock knob was also a bit scratched up from a ring on my 4th finger, so I chucked it in my drill and and attempted to remove the scratches.

After sanding off the clearcoat and using polishing compound, here's the finished result...

Here's the final result!

I actually like the look of the original spun finish over the polished, the the polished knob feels MUCH better in your hand. The first couple days, I found myself erotically massaging the knob when waiting at stop lights.... but that's another thread.

Very nice idea dude... Please tell us more details.. What size bit did you use to rebore and the size thread to retap it? That's a very creative do-it-yourself mod dude! I am impressed.

Looks like you don't use the lock nut under the modified shift knob. What method did you use to line up the shift pattern?
