Default 1/4 mile times i've got with my Vortech SC S2k

I went to Carlsbad Raceway for the first time, actually first time taking the car out to any drag strip. I ran the car 2 times and my buddy ran my car 4 more times. So here is what we've got.

1st run:
Reaction: 1.173
1/4 mile: 14.223
Trap Speed: 98.09

2nd run:
Reaction: 1.148
1/4 mile: 14.954
Trap Speed: 89.13
(I've burned out on first gear then i've mis shifted 3rd)

My buddies run (I had him run because he is a more exprienced driver)
3rd run:
Reaction: .711
1/4 mile: 14.594
Trap Speed: 103.88

4th run:
Reaction: .611
1/4 mile: 14.138
Trap Speed: 103.83

5th run:
Reaction: .490
1/4 mile: 13.737
Trap Speed: 105.26

6th run:
Reaction: 1.001
1/4 mile: 13.342
Trap Speed: 106.78

Only thing my car has is a vortech supercharger and the rest is stock. I had a lot of fun at the tracks and planning on going again.

Great times (toward the end) I think high 12's is a possibility...

Keep practicing and you should be able to break 12's.

I saw your 13 sec run btw, very nice!

Let it be said that all cars perform a lot better with cooler temps. Given Saturday was rather cool all day but it got more cooler during the night.

Btw, what were your 60' time for all the runs? Reaction time is irrelavant to your 1/4 times. 60' numbers is what counts.

I've tried just dumping the clutch at 6000 but the tires just don't grab. So what we've did was slip the clutch at 6000 and soon as there was movement we've dropped it then.

Yeah, I did the same thing after my catastrophic first track appearance (differential #1). The second time out (many many months later) I only went as high as 5,500 and only slipped the clutch out and saw the same type of 60' times (2.2). Trap speeds in the 105 but only running high 13s. For any S to turn a number true of it's potential the car will have to launch and stick...something most of us have not built our cars for.

I think the times are good...now just learn what your friend did better!

Wow, 2.1 is pretty damn good on stock tires. Especially for Carlsbad. I dont see 12's in your future without more mods or stickier tires. But hell, 13.3's is pretty damn good!

You need J's racing 4.44 final drive. A guy on the board with the comptech SC ran a 12.8 just rolling off the line, not dropping the clutch at all. The car is way too hard to launch with an SC on the stock gearing. Too slow and you bog and have pretty much stock power, too hard and you'll up your differential. The gears help ALOT.
