Remote Display just above the dome lights and just under the roof moulding. And yes, it is fully visible when the top is up.
V1 Main Unit installed backwards through the windscreen.
Rear View
The power cord enters the secret compartment through the windscreen so it can't be seen from above.
Because the main unit is installed backwards, I needed to switch the directional arrows in the remote display.
The only negative is that the readout is a bit difficult to see when the sun hits it a certain way. Aside from that, everything is exactly the way I wanted it. I especially like being able to reach up and tap the "mute" button on the remote display when I'm driving through false alarm areas.
Why did you mount the V1 backwards with the remote up front? you confuse the directionals & lose laser effectiveness (since it is more effective foreward than rear?
Very cool.. but I think for your wallet's sake u should flip the V1 around & put electrical tape over the lights
Looks good. I have been starring at that same spot, not for the remote display, but for the unit it's self. Since you seam for be very familar with that spot, and it is fresh in your mind. do you think that the V1 it's self would fit there?

Well, the directional arrows for the remote display are not an issue. I've opened up the part and I'm pretty sure I can switch the arrows... no big deal. As far as the laser effectiveness, I'm doing some road testing, but I haven't come across any speed traps yet. I'm going to write a letter to Mr. Valentine tomorrow to ask him about this. I'll post the results.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the placement of the V1 too low (When u have the top up and/or hardtop on) for the rear detection? W/the top up, the surface level of the V1 isn't as high as the bottom of the plastic window, thus the rear laser detection would see nothing but the canvas material of the top.

While the workmanship looks great, This kind of solution really doesn't do it for me.
For me, the priorities for V1 mounting are:
1. Easy to see warnings
2. Easy to mute when I get a false
3. Wont get stolen
4. Relatively stealthy to cops and other vehicles
5. Can swap the V1 back and forth to multiple vehicles
6. Maximize range (this is last, as lack of range, even when mounted in a non-optimal location, has never been an issue).
Seems like installations like this do not accomplish my objectives.
I've settled on a 2"x2" tab of Velcro near the front/center of the dash, matching Velcro on the bottom of the V1 and a permanently wired non-coiled phone cord running along the base of the windshield. It comes in and out in 1/2 second, no cords or windshield brackets to mess with, and I can throw my driving hat over the entire thing and it disappears when parked...

I agree that this install is not for everyone, especially those who live in areas where radar detectors are illegal... This is not a "stealth" install.
My priority list is different.
1) No more speeding tickets, of course.
2) Don't want a big chunk of plastic / metal hanging in plain view off my windshield.
3) Easy to see display
4) Does not attract attention when the car is parked with the top up.
It wasn't a major priority for me that the V1 not get stolen, but you actually have to remove the windscreen to remove the V1.
It also wasn't a priority for me to able to swap the V1 between vehicles. I have no other car...
