Corvette Crashed

yet another Corvette rolled on the track. Glad the driver is ok.

And he never catched the red S2000 in the front

Great video! (At least up to the crash part) It's great to see the S2000 tearing up the track.

This is at Grattan in Michigan.

The turn where he rolled is very bumpy and can totally unsettle a car. My car just kind of skips across all the bumps and I end up at the very far right side of the track usually. Sometimes I wonder if I'm going to make it.

My last track day there someone clipped the apex of the right-hander before this turn and got his right-side tires into some water. He didn't have traction on those tires for the left and he went straight off the track into the wall.

Grattan's turn 3 is one the most fun corners I have ever driven. It's a left hand (150 degree), downhill, off-camber monster. I had a huge spin there this year - I'm glad the grass was still a bit wet with dew!

The Vette probably would have passed the S2000 down the straight unless the S2000 was running forced induction - although driver is everything and it looks like the S2000 owner knows the line better than the Vette driver.

It kinda goes to show that even though the S2k may be underpowered, it's handling can make up for that.

Example, like in the video.

The vette is behind the S2000 by a few car lengths. going into, and coming out of the turn before the straight away the S2k can break later and accelerate earlier due to it's handling charachteristics. This lets him get another couple car lengths. However, he also gets going up to speed sooner.

So as the vette leaves the turn, the S2000 is going faster, has several lengths on it already, and is already in full acceleration, going probably 15-20mph faster than the vette is. That's a LOT to make up for, even with such brute strength as a vette has.

You guys sure that's an s2000? The video is really crappy quality but it looks like the car infront of the vette has a red top. And it does not look like the S2000 hartop. ( Window To Big and not as rounded in the back ). Also on one of the turns the side of the car has "side scurts" kinda like the viper has.

Or am I just blind!?
