The Supra Club organized a race at a track in Hitchcock, TX - fortunately, myself and two other s2000's got ot join in the fun. Lots of great cars, great people and what a fun course that was perfect for this car - however, it also ate up the rest of my tires too. At 8K miles on my car and my tires, I've gotta get new ones already.

The Supras handled very well, but due to their weight - Chris says approximately 700lbs. more, they handle like a beast. Their power down the straights would kill the S2000's, but because of the weight of the S2000's, we could brake much much later and hold the turns quite well. On this track, it was difficult to say which cars peformed best, but I believe this track was made for the S2000!

p.s. - woo hoo! this is my 1000th post!

Unfortunately, not everyone made it off the track - this beast was unable to run out on Saturday due to a suspected broken front seal.

Do I really need to explain this picture?

I had an absolute blast and learned a LOT about what my S2000 can do! Kind of interesting how I read so much about "snap oversteer"...I found the handling to be very balanced, and found it was easy to control the car's balance mid-corner via throttle control.

Randy's right, though - the S2000's put in a respectable performance, though, especially considering that most of the Supras were highly modified. We also got plenty of ride requests!

I went through a lot of rubber myself, but it was worthwhile since I could never experience my car like that on public roads. The track has plenty of runoff, so you could push hard w/o worrying about hurting your car too much...but there was an incident after Randy left that was surprising. A red single turbo Supra (i.e. LOTS of HP) was putting on quite a show, spinning out several times and shooting flames from the exhaust. Well, he finally really lost it, and ran well off the track into some rougher areas, screwing up his intercooler and flatting his RH tires.

It was a great time...all the Supra owners were really cool about having other cars come out to play, we got to drive on a track seeming designed for the S2000, and the skies held up despite forecasts calling for rain. This much fun shouldn't be legal!

I'll post some of my pics soon...

the track is being reworked to 2.2 miles over the next year. the Supra event, unfortunately, is only once a year. I'm sure if we could get enough people we could rent it out for ourselves. Its approximately 800 bucks for a day. It was the best 27 bucks I spent - split lots of ways. However, the organizer had many people with $10 deposits that did not show, so he had to give the money back. I think he forked out a bit too much out of his own pocket, but it was much appreciated for the event. I don't think anyone would complain if he asked for a few dollars more.

If you ever go, make sure you got tires to trash!

That's actually not too uncommon for high HP turbo cars w/ no cats...I think it may have something to do w/ tuning the air/fuel mix as well.

It seems to be especially common on RX-7 turbos - sure looks cool @ night!

Courtesy says you let off when letting someone pass at Summit Point FATT (friday at the track)..... a supra turbo on slicks w/ adjust boost (he was running 17psi-18psi) got the signal from me...no courtesy let off from me down the big straight.... AND HE WAS GONE!!!! I did the same to a 996 porsche which just crept past me in comparision!

I kept thinking a supra turbo would still haul my kids, but.... not really!

awesome cars though!

Scot

ps....was that a WRX impreza chasing the S2000? or was it an older RS?
