Default Do i need to wire up the power antenna wire for aftermarket HU?

I am wondering do i have to wire up the power antenna wire (blue wire) of the HU harness?

i am installing a alpine HU. after i plug the antenna wire into the HU, i seems to have no problem with FM reception. i don't know about AM yet though.

Yes. Our antenna has an amplifier that is powered by the 'power antenna' lead on the wiring harness.

Yes, I have this problem, but I get no AM at all. I have a new harness waiting for me to install and fix it. I am just too busy building my sub enclosure to get this now. Maybe soon.

Yes, I saw the exact same thing. The radio pulled in every local FM station I listen to with no problem, but AM couldn't find a single station. I removed the radio and connected the power antenna lead, and everything is there now. Also noticed that the FM signal is cleaner and louder as a result, as you'd expect with an XX dB boost on a powered antenna.

If there are any unused wires on your existing harness, you could pull the wire (and the pin) out of the harness, then move it to the pin location you need. I've done this a couple of times in the past. You just need to make sure you re-seat the pin properly so it won't push out when you connect the harness to the stock plug.
