Day One as S2K Owner – Not as planned!

I first looked for an S2000 four years ago. At the time I passed and pickup up a 968.

Three months ago I started to search in earnest for one. Drove a bunch locally. But asking price and colors were not in line with my expectations.

Used this forum heavily in my search. Had one PPI in Ohio on a 38k mile 2004 that had seen winters – rust.

Had another PPI done last week in Alabama. Passed with many thumbs up. Driving it home was not an option with my work schedule and I bought sight unseen (not in person anyway). I was very nervous.

It arrived this morning at 8:45. Had to jump on a call at 9. Got out of the call and my mom had had a serious heart attack. Jumped in the S2K and raced to the gas station and then the hospital. She is alive but barely.

Finally got to drive it home late tonight. Leather treated the leather before it gets any colder here.

Live top down while you can!

I'm sure everyone reading your story is thinking the same thing, we are wishing your mom a speedy recovery.

It is a difficult time. We share your pain, and your joy in your finally getting the S you've been waiting for.

I can only hope the memory of your new car comes to be associated with that time your mom went through something difficult but it all turned out well.

Please forgive me for not commenting about your car, but I'd rather dedicate an entire post to your mother and I wish her a speedy recovery.

Car looks very clean but more importantly I wish your mom a speedy recovery.

Not sure what year your car is. If its 06 or later I suggest that you pull the valve cover and check/set the valve clearances soon.

It is a 2004.

Mom is still alive, thank you for your concern. It gets dicy at 91.

Good to hear with your mother.

You are certainly right about top down weather being about over. I'm going to be prepping mine for storage very soon and I am thinking it will go in just after Halloween. I am really going to miss driving this little car because it is such an experience and this will be one long winter.

Drove mine top down yesterday and today. That will likely be it for top down here. One exception will be 6 autocross runs tomorrow, but it will be in the 30's. Always drop the top for the runs ... but it will go back up directly after :P

I honestly just wish that as soon as I put my S away, MN would just get 3 feet of snow and it stay that way until Spring. At least then I can fill the convertible void with snowboarding lol ! But I DID choose to live here so ....

Congrats on finding a great S2000. Certainly wishing the best for your mom.

Well the good news on both fronts is this...

I’m sitting here with mom at the hospital, and yesterday they did not think she would make 24 hours.

And I picked up the S2000 from the shop after having the radiator fluid flushed, oil changed with Honda filter, trans and diff changed and old fluid strained. Shop thought it was in real nice shape for the miles, and nothing ugly in the fluid strain. Shifts better already. It is going to suck to store it in a week or two.

This forum has been invaluable in my search. Thanks for all the help.
