Default Fell In Love

I have been lurking around a while after many months and a few ride alongs I finally test drove one and now I know I have to buy an S2k. I went down to the local carmax and saw an 00 S2k with 44K. It had normal wear and tear, driver's seat was worn down, plastic window was foggy, etc. They wanted $16k but I was not looking in buying just test driving. I drove it for about 15 minutes. Car seemed well taken care of. Clutch grabbed good no buzzing. I heard a few sounds from the rear. Could it have been the diff? Not sure what the sound was. Took it to rev limit one time. I thought that would bother the sales guys but he was ok with it. Engine was good. Checked all the panels. One thing I did notice was the tires. All the tires were OEM sizes but the front wheels were michelins and the rear were hankook. Also I am a big guy but I felt snug in it not at all claustrophobic. One gripe I have is the shoulder room but after a few minutes I forgot about it.

I am looking into buyin an 01-03 leaning towards an 01 sometime within 3 months. I also had a question. The S will be a daily driver/occasional track car. I will definitely put in a roll bar probably a Safety 21/Cusco point with harness bar. Will the roll bar or harness bar prevent the seat from sliding all the way back? I think i could scoot up a bit more but the farthest seating position seemed the most comforatble. Also I will use a bucket seat so will that may limit travel as well? Thanks guys.

They have rails to lower the seats more. 16k for an 00 is alot of money. You can pick up 01-02 for like 11k now!

I know its a lot I've seen 02 and 03 for less than $15K with lower miles. I just went for a test drive. The sales guys was nice. He wasn't pushy plus i made it clear that I was going to be in the market in about three months. Thanks for the heads up though.

I mean he was not pushy asking a 1,001 questions. In fact I think the fact that I asked him how the oil level was and if they check both dip sticks probably hinted him that I have researched the car. A few months back a went to a seedy used car lot to look at an 01 with 76k. The sleaze ball wanted $17K and when I popped the hood the check the engine bay guy claimed the hood was made of titanium.

Don't ya just hate it when the sales person doesn't know what the heck they're selling. Pathetic. Well, enjoy the search and hope everything goes well for you.

Thanks guys. If everything works out I will buy one before the end of Jan 09. I will never forget that guy. I almost didn't notice what he said because it sounded so riduculous.
