Future S2k owner :)

Hey guys, it may be a little soon to introduce myself but I feel like I've been lurking the forums long enough (since 2008). I'm currently deployed in the middle East, but when I get back in August I will be purchasing an S2000.

Here's my story;
I've always loved import cars, possibly because of an obsession with Japan and both my studies and travels to Japan just affirmed my love of fast Japanese cars. Back in high school, like so many immature teenagers, I got sucked into the `ricer` scene. I bought a dirt cheap 95 Nissan Sentra with a cracked block, which my Dad and I rebuilt. Then with money from my part-time job I riced it out with Enkei rims, a huge eBay spoiler, fart-can muffler, and a R32 body kit. I'm ashamed to think I used to drive that garbage around, but at least I learned a lot about boydwork! Haha.
The older I got, I realized that what I really wanted was speed, and started entertaining thoughts of a SR20 swap, but by freshman year of college I realized that the car I had was simply not a tuner platform and that as my tastes had changed, I was embarassed to be driving around in it with all the hideous cosmetic mods. I really wanted an S2000, which was a car i had loved since they first came out and I saw them as a kid, but I knew I couldn't afford one. Around the same time, I went for a ride in my buddy's 2nd gen turbo MR2. I was immediately hooked and knew I wanted one. I quickly sold my Sentra (yes, someone actually bought it!) And with a small loan, I bought a 1991 N/A Toyota MR2.

This car ended up being my first real love as far as cars go. Over the next 4 years of college, I enjoyed every minute of modding my MR2. I started with some aggressive wheels and lowering springs. Following this I purchased a 98 JDM clip, and had the 3rd gen 3SGTE w/ LSD swapped into mine. I still remember the drive back to VA from PA, I was in love with the feel and sound of the turbo. I went on to upgrade the exhaust system, intercooler, intake, added a Boost controller and turned the boost up. All said and done it was where near 275hp. I loved it, but the age of the car and the mid-engine setup coupled with pretty much maxing out the engine without upgrading the fuel system or ecu etc, meant that things broke a lot. I'd say every few weeks I'd have to fix something.
At the time I still lived at home and used my dad's truck whenever work needed to be done to the MR2. But shortly after college I joined the Air Force, and being stationed far from home the MR2 would not be practical, so I sold it, painfully, and bought an 06 Honda Ridgeline. I really enjoyed that truck but the gas mileage was horrendous and I was dating a girl that lived 2.5 hours away, so I traded it in for...an 07 Prius. I know, manly right? But I was literally saving hundreds on gas every month. However, after 6 or 7 months I realized I was wasting money on a car payment and insurance for a car I didn't care about. So I sold that and bought a beater for $1,000. That was a 98 Acura Integra, and as beat up as it was, it ran just fine. Unfortunately it was totaled when my neighbor backed his truck into it a week before I deployed.
Now all this time since the MR2, I've really missed having a fast car and I'm ready to get into modding and tuning again. Now that I'm finally in a financial position to buy the car I've always wanted, an S2000, I can't wait to get back to the states and buy one! I don't know yet if I want to go turbo or SC but I definitely plan on a strong FI setup. For now I just have to wait, and continue to stalk the classified section :p

Can't wait to be a part of the community!

(Sorry, I got carried away and wrote you guys a book lol)
