I am getting a new S2000
After making the mistake of selling my 2003 I am getting a new one but I want my lease payments to be $300 or less on a 3 or 4 year lease. What kind of down payment is fair.
If I cannot get a good deal I will bite the bullet and put down 15k and buy thecar but I prefer to lease if possible. |
I think you would be crazy to put down 15k to lower your payments. If you can't afford more than 300/mo, maybe you should wait to get a new S2000.
There is always the used market. 15k + a small loan will get you a very nice used S. |
no I think you got the wrong idea- I am hoping to lease a new s2k with a 2-3k downpayment and monthly payments of 300 bucks.
IfI cannot get a gooddeal I will buy a new S2k. I will never buy another used car after my last experience with a 911 - in the garage more the on the road. |
I'd be surprised if you could lease a new S2000 for ~$300/mo, but I can't honestly say I've ever looking into pricing on a lease. It sucks that your 911 had problems, was it one of the cars afflicted with the rear main seal issue?
I'm nearly certain you can't buy an S for $300/mo unless you finance for much longer than 5 years, but I suspect you plan to pay higher per month if you decide to buy. |
If you put $15k down, you might be able to pay off the rest of a new S2k for under $300/mo over 60 months, depending on your interest rate and purchase price. For a 72 month loan, you wouldn't have a problem. Anything less than 60, no way jose.

$300? Yeah, good luck. Maybe with a lease contract of 90 months.
A $32k loan at 4% interest rate with a 6 year term is at $500/mo, just to give you a perspective. |
If you got it for sticker of 34k, you wouldn't be able to, but if you haggled down to say 32k, with a 2% apr, you'd be under 300/mo. I said might, not would :)
