New Member - AE86 F20C swap
Hi All ^_^
I'm Matt. Joined the forum as it's worthwhile getting some more info and advice with using an AP1 F20C in my AE86. It was (in theory) a Low mileage (68k) engine but with a checkered past in another drift car and with it being sat in a Scottish garage for a number of years, I felt best to refresh it. Doing: - Bearings (ACL) - Main Studs and Rod Bolts (ARP) - Spoon or OEM Head gasket - New Gaskets top to Bottom - Baffled Sump (Both for steering rack clearance and to prevent oil slosh) - Replacing a few broken sensors due to shipping - Titanium valve retainers (Skunk2) - Valve Stem Oil Seals - Air Pump Delete (JSP) - TCT Replacement (Billman) - Competition Clutch Stage 3 The Car is a 1985 Toyota Corolla Levin, Japanese Import (we got the Levin in the UK but never as a 2 door/Coupe). I bought it with a few mods and a 20V 4AGE for fairly cheap (needed some work, a lot less than it ended up needing), before the AE86 market boom. For info, a Jap Import AE86 back then was around £6-7k. Now we are seeing them start around £9k but usually £12/13k. Some pics of the car when I first got it: https://scontent-lht6-1.xx.fbcdn.net...08&oe=5D43A075 https://scontent-lht6-1.xx.fbcdn.net...10&oe=5D487307 After some new wheels (old ones were buckled AS) https://scontent-lht6-1.xx.fbcdn.net...08&oe=5D43A075 Unfortunate 20v failure - No 1.... https://scontent-lht6-1.xx.fbcdn.net...16&oe=5D405FA3 After replacing that engine, I got another 6 months out of an unopened one before it rattled as well. So I thought I'd cut my losses and swap something good in. 240bhp, 9k revs and a 6 Speed Box sounded good to me. There's more up to date photos on my Instagram (@fecklessae86) for anyone interested :) That's a brief introduction to me and my car! Thanks, Matt |
Welcome! ;)
