Default Old guy in Iowa

Hello all,
I'm the old guy (42), retired military and coming from a C6 Grand Sport. I loved the C6 but I found myself trying not to drive it to "save" miles. I am moving to a S2k for several reasons but none more than I want to drive the shit out of it. I will not drone on with my grandiose plans for the car once I pick it up other than I do think FI will have to happen so i'll be lurking around to figure out the safest and most reliable route to go. To be clear I have not bought my car yet as I am looking for the perfect car, but I should be making the move within 6ish months. Any Iowans in the forums that can point me to the best performance shop around would be great.

Welcome to the forum! They are great fun to drive. Find out the tracks near you and get some HPDE days in. Dont wait for FI to do that, you will find out just how good they are on track either way

Can I edit post's? my original has too many mistakes in it for my liking. Tracking before FI is definitely the plan, just to get an understanding of the characteristics and my individual wants/needs for the car. thanks for the reply broski

Welcome!

There were 2 especially useful threads I found before I actually went and looked for a car:

https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/775...#entry18385384

https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/102...replace-first/

They should have most of the info and additional links you will ever need.

Firstly, you are not an old guy. I'm 66 and have had my first year S2000 since the fall of 1999. I would also suggest driving your S2000 for a while when you get it, before going for a supercharger or turbo. The car may seem underpowered at low revs compared to your Vette, but your right foot can fix that issue. Keep it at full boil and you should be plenty entertained. If you plan on tracking it, and want to run with the big dogs on the straightaways maybe consider it. The joy of an S2000 is found in the co corners, where you pick up time in an S2000 compared to heavier cars. Good luck on finding your perfect car. I doubt you will be disappointed!

Hi H,
Just a thought, there are no 'perfect' cars. Every one is a compromise of something. Even your C6, or you wouldn't be moving on. And the S2 is no different, in it's own ways. Just enjoy it for what it is.
