Opinion on an S2000
I have been lurking on here a while and looking for a clean stock S2000 for even longer. I thought that I may have finally found one locally but, after driving it I am not sure if it is the one. The good is that it is a Chicane Silver 2008 with 15,800 miles on it. It is all stock and the owner wants $21,500 for it. It has a clean title check but, the right fender and door have no VIN tags and have obviously been painted. Three of the wheels have been curbed and everything on the car is original. The only fluid ever changed was the oil. Do you think I should make him an insulting offer or just keep looking?

the fact the only fluid that has been changed is the oil on a 6 year old car is why i would keep looking

Price seems high with the repairs. I would find out more than that. Does it show up on car faqs? I would want to know what was fixed and how bad it was since that's a decent chunk of money for a car with an accident where 2 panels were repaired. The child's I wouldn't worry to much about since Honda doesn't call for them to be changed with such low miles. I would personally keep looking due to the unknown with the accident unless they had a lot of documentation.

The accident doesn't show on the car fax, which makes me weary of the quality of the repair. The owner didn't know that it had been in an accident until I showed him the panels and paint work. I think I will keep looking. Thanks for the help.

Welcome.
When you get an S2000 check out the link in my signature. |
You may want to also run an AutoCheck in addition to the CarFax.
I once test drove a used SUV, and later discovered that it had a clean CarFax but AutoCheck showed it to be salvaged (which I verified to be accurate). I don't think one is better than the other, but one or both may be incomplete. Since then I shell out the extra $$ for both. |

15K miles and he's not the original owner?
I mean, a replaced fender/bumper cover could be as simple as sliding into something while going sideways (getting used to RWD)...that's still over 20K but you get almost the last model year with almost no miles on it, so that counts for something. I'd be more curious if the control arms/steering arms and all nuts/bolts are original in that corner. If frame and all that looks good, I wouldn't walk away that quickly. |
He bought it as a lease turn in 10k miles in 2011. I probably should go look at it again and pull the front wheel off. The right door was also replaced.
