Well that didn't go as planned....was going to pull the front calipers for painting, but the front lines have the wrong brackets!!!! Oh well, on to another little project. The camber caster bolts were pulled and what do you know they are spotless...no corrosion whatsoever......kind of expected that...as this car is a cherry....but a little anti-seize for preventative maintenance...good for the long haul. This was a very easy job....worst part was getting the jack under the car.....a new lower profile jack will cure that...it's on the way...

REALLY....these aren't brand new, this is what they looked like pulled out of the bushings.....

You just need a little ramp to drive up on.

I pull up on a pair of ramps I built out of scrap 1" shelving. Ya need 6 feet of board cut into 2x2' and 2x1'. Glue or nail (I used shingle roofing nails) a 1' section on top of a 2' section.

Since the front end was already up, One crappy caliper painting job to be redone. The DPO just painted calipers on the car, paint wasn't even sticking, just a half assed way of doing things.what the heck the calipers were removed of the nonstick paint, hit with a wire brush on an wheel, cleaned and coated with Eastwood's "nano" paint. "Nano" sounds like BS to me. A little goes a long way, two coats put on.

Front's done with Stop Tech Braided lines----

Gonna be a fun weekend......anxious to get these on...I went with Swift 9/7 springs...yeah a little lighter than what comes standard. I'm very pleased with the stock ride, but these springs are firmer than stock. It's not going to be a track car, it will see occasional track use at a local track, but just for the occasional fun, nothing serious. For what I want these should still preform way better than stock.

Fair to say you will likely be throwing the initial pre load set up procedure/recommendation out the window with these spring rates. Not sure if/how much your trying to lower the car, but that aside just make sure you have enough bump travel and droop or you wont yield the best results. I always try and aim for a 50/50 bump to droop ratio, but that's not always entirely possible. Spring rate, lower perch adjustment range and chosen ride height will all influence this to varying degree. Just set up in a logical and systematic way and you should be good.

Won't be lowering the car that much maybe 15mm, it's not that crucial to me. I notice in the DFV manual it recommends 11n/mm and a 7N/mm spring...Urge typically supplies a 10/8 spring. The 9/7 is still firmer than stock...I wanted to go just a hair lighter than the 10/8, but nothing to drastic.

Cool. Probably just need to add a little more pre load on the spring then assuming their recommendation on the 10/8 is the best one. That I cant comment on since I don't run these dampers or those spring rates.

Patrick suggested 2mm/10mm preload (Ft/R). Pretty easy putting the fronts on, except I should have done them at the same time instead of left then right, the sway bar caused a little difficulty. Preload was easy to set, no ride height yet....I'll probably shoot for 3/4" drop. I'll know more when all four are on the car. Height as supplied was 1 inch lower just as specified by Ohlins. Height measurements were taken w/ and w/o driver. Driver doped the car about 3/16" on the left. The upper A arms have been left loose until the final drop is determined...anti-seize used on all bolts. I use this stuff on just about every fastener..since I keep cars a long time, it helps with disassembly. This will take care of most of the suspension bolts.

I had one stupid snafu....I installed the springs on the wrong struts front to rear.....after all four were in place. The left rear doesn't go on any better the 2nd time around either. Height took some trial and error to get to what I wanted. I wanted about 3/4inch drop, with the left side being a little higher to compensate for drivers weight. Adjust, put tires on, run up the driveway hit a bump or two then recheck and adjust...it took a while, but it's where I want it.

Took it for a short drive and had to much body roll and checked adjusters on the front, they were to soft. Readjusting helped. It was a short ride so final impressions will will be after an alignment. I did notice road surface was absorbed better and it absorbed harder bumps like manhole covers better. All setup measurements were logged onto a specs sheet, that way I won't wonder months down the road what was done. I like records. Not sure if the 9/7KG springs will have to much body roll for what I like, but I was leery about going to the 10/8 springs. Since the '07 has the lightest front bar (300lbs/in) in an effort to reduce roll a '01 front bar (393lbs/in) was purchased. We will see how it goes.

Remote adjusters for the rear...uh, adjuster was added, luckily I didn't have to pay for one new, found a never installed one for $50. It won't be to bad pulling the spare tire to adjust the struts and once it gets dialed in, it won't be adjusted very often, just for the occasional track day.

Passenger's side

a side note- Stop Tech brake lines are shit!!! they fit up ok, but others have a liner on the outside and don't have exposed braided stainless lines.
