my understanding this is the whole idea of this kit - it lowers the bottom cushion. the back cushion remains the same.
hence the gap.

+1 for awesome directions lots of intuitive parts but i got hung up on the back adjustment handle so your "rip it clean off" tip got me over the hump and my seat back in my car.

addendum for '07+ cars with SRS sensor in addition to seatbelt sensor: it's possible (but perhaps not wise?) to get the sensor off the old rails by unscrewing the two phillips screws on it and placing the sensor inside of something safe. you'd need a large star driver to get the whole assembly off... i'll probably do this eventually just so my sensor isn't floating around under my seat in a ziploc bag...

Done a few on the 07 and newer.
I just drilled a hole, and mounted the sensor as seen here using a nylon locknut. The way the sensor works, is that it slows the bag deployment if the channel of the sensor has the metal seat track in it so small people don't get whacked with the airbag as hard.
Because those who are adding this mod are typically larger, you'd never have the seat all the way forward anyway.
It'd be safe to mount the sensor in such a way as metal doesn't get in the channel so the bag works just like all the earlier s2k's.

I'll be selling my driver side BYS rails in a week or so. I just picked up a bucket and no longer need it. Shoot me a PM if interested.
