Default J's 4.44, maybe not that JDM

make a long story short, I bought the Js final gear, brought it to a shop and the owner there has done quite a bit of 4.44/4.77 installations. So he hold me I got jacked, cause the 4.44 I got from J's is exactly the same as someone who bought from Rick and other sources for half the price.

So I did a search and found these links,
https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.ph...ic=182172&st=0

https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.ph...T&f=1&t=290808

Also a reputable s2ki member PM'd me and told me he has had them (J's and the Mazda) side by side. There are the same castin marks on the ring gears.

However I am not that shocked, many JDM tuners have been doing the same, they just bought one type of items from a source, and rebrand it then sell it for 3 times the price.

I guess I will be so not JDM for once.

I am not here bashing anyone's business. I just thought the buyers deserve to know the truth before they purchase the J's final gears.

true. I had a feeling... though J's does offer a wide array of gearing options, I still think that would be one item I wouldn't spend the money on...

marcus, you might want to have AJ contact J's directly to confirm this.
i'm not sure about the 4.4's, but i had the 4.3's side by side with the mazda unit and they color of the metal looked different to me.

Could it be that the J's one was heat treated so there is a difference in color?

Marcus, if you can please find out from AJ.

No time to read everything but, if the gears are made by Mazda why would they not be considered JDM? Also remember J's is just doing something that is common practice in the business world. Rebadging a product is done all the time. At least J's made an attempt to be different by supplying you with "reinforced bolts".
