J's intake question...
#11
not a fan of replica items, I'll go for the real thing when I get some money. I'd like it keep it all J's if possible, but howcome from some DVDs and pics I saw the J's S2000 seems to be using the Mugen Hood?

Hey the J's Racing Type V (First Molding) CF hood looks very much like the Mugen CF hood. Differences are in the size of the exterior vents.. The Mugen are much smaller while the J's are larger. Plus the J's comes in 3 trim levels vs Mugen which comes in one trim. The Mugen is lighter than all 3 trim levels of the J's by maybe a pound and thats just a guess. Both fit near OEM.
Both also clear the J's Racing and Mugen intakes.
Price on the Mugen is like
$3000 +shipping
Price on J's Racing Type V (took prices from BBP) are
Full CF $2400 +shipping
CF/FRP $1700 +shipping
FRP $1300 +shipping
So its up to you. A lot of people thought I had the Mugen hood. As you can see in this picture it looks similiar and it didnt help that I have a Mugen hardtop and SS front bumper..

I can save shipping by picking up from Bulletproof. They are local to me yay. I was going to paint it anyway so it looks like the J's FRP would be my best bet.
are you saying the Mugen CF is only lighter than J's FRP by 1 lb? Both are lighter or close to stock I assume?
Thanks for the great help!
Hey JsAP1, was your old setup J's front half + cusco rollcage?
I noticed in another post you are trading J's intake for Mugen intake too.
Is there a functional/Quality difference or just preference? it looks like you are going full mugen now.

I had the Cwest front bumper before I bought the Mugen.
I meant 1 pound difference between the full CF J's and the Mugen. I have the CFRP/FRP and its maybe a 1-2 pound difference from my buddies Mugen.
