Default J's Racing Intake System Question

I've been looking for a good intake for awhile and really like the J's Tsuchinoko System. But is there a risk of hydrolocking your engine like the AEM cold air kits? When it rains here the roads do get pretty swampy, I could see water getting into the bumper intake opening. Anyone have any experience with this?

PC.. Have you ever opened your intake to check after driving in a heavy rain?

Yup. Nada. No problem. Even in Hawaii rains which is a hell of a lot more than California.

That's good news.... What's the typical HP gains from the Mugen or J's intakes?

I was all ready to buy the J's intake from Bulletproofautomotive yesterday..... and they told me not to put it on a street car because it could hydrolock the engine!!!

I'm confused... should I go Mugen instead becsuse it's higher up on the bumper? or the Comptech?

The J's race car looks like it gets air from the same place on the bumper as the mugen. But I guess thats a different system from what most people buy.

????

The whole hydrolock paranoia thing cracks me up. People are so paranoid about it, but honestly if you're submerging your car deep enough in water to completely cover the opening of a Spoon/Js/Mugen snorkel (even the long versions) I think you've got more to worry about than just sucking up water
