J's N1 ECU - Anyone using it? Any details

I've read on the AJ-R site about the ECU which says:

J's Racing developed N1 ECU for maximum power output to the STD engine. VTEC point and rev limiter has been changed. This ECU is also compatible with lightly tuned engines such as big throttle body, intake system, header and exhaust system. From the dyno test, during mid-engine speed 10-15hp is raised and 10hp at high rpm ranges. The J's Racing ECU is based on core exchange only.

Is anyone using it? Is it worth the money or just JDM bling? Would an S-AFC and dyno tuning help more than the J's N1 ECU? I don't plan on going SC - just doing quality I/H/E and some suspension. I really don't want to deal with the AEM EMS for what I am doing....

Thanks for your time!

Wow - questions on making a shift knob blue get more responses than this - :)

I think I am one of the ppl who had the J's Racing ECU for the longest time.

J's Racing's ECU adjusted the VTEC by 300rpm lower and the rev limiter has been raised to 9200rpm. The VTEC transition is very smooth and you will not hear the VTEC kicking in. The major improvement is the ON/OFF throttle response is dramatically improved.

Just my 0.2 cents ;)

Good luck.

Thanks, AJ.

How does this compare using with a S-AFC? Would it not do the same, except for RPM bump, right?

J's is a fully tuned ECU. VAFC is for tuning air fuel ratio and vtec engagement. Two totally different things.

AJ PwR 01-27-2007 12:47 PM

Yes correct.

The J's adjusted the A/F and timing and with the lower VTEC, at that particular area, it gained 14whp. I will try to dig up my dyno plot and post it soon.

Yeah and an S-AFC doesn't even control the VTEC engagement point, correct?

correct. v-afc does vtec adjustment

I have been told that jdm "tuned" ecu are tuned for at least 96 octane since 96 octane is offered in japan. Is this true or can you run 93 octane without any problems?

I have a vafc2 and im wondering if i should tune the car with it or sell it and get a jdm ecu......

mind you i have comptech headers, invidia test pipe, buddy club specIII single outlet exhaust, comptech intake, comptech flywheel comptech street disk and a act stage2 pressureplate......

the car is plenty fast i just wanna clean up the air fuel and vtech points .....

what do you guys suggest????
