Might go back to N/A from turbo...
I posted a thread in s2ktalk about possibly going back to stock due to financial troubles with the turbo setup that I have. I'm also thinking that I could keep my 1052U EMS (or sell it for a non-UEGO unit and save a couple hundred bucks) and exhaust and get the thing tuned.
I do have and would keep the Hondata intake manifold gasket. What type of power could I make with the EMS on a stock setup? Would it be worth keeping my 3" exhaust and tuning the EMS together? I love the exhaust that I have and hate duals, so I'd like to keep the 3" single. I am changing my headgasket next weekend, would it be worth it to get a thinner Spoon headgasket for a few extra ponies? Does anyone have one for sale? Thanks! |
There's a member in FL (whose name escapes me right now, he was really into that 230whp thread) who ran an EMS on a stock 2001 AP1 and made really nice gains, he liked it a lot (then again, he did it knowing he would get ITBs later, and he has them now).
There was also a guy in that thread running a 3" exhaust on an NA car, he made about the same hp #s (all relative I know) as a 70mm exhaust and picked up more torque, but remember that the exhaust will be much louder on an NA car than it is on your current turbo car. |
keep the EMS and 3in, you can tune your car to take advantage of the 3in. ruben made 225whp with 3in on his AP2.

Yes, the F20C in my Miata made 232whp with a 3" exhaust and EMS.

Good to know, thanks guys  I just don't know if I should get rid of the turbo or not. It'll be very upsetting if I do :( |
^ stop kidding yourself - do you honestly think that the gains you'll get by tuning the ems and 3" exhaust NA will make up for the 200 hp you've just lost?
