You're mistaken. From their site: "With the PWJDM S2K Dry Carbon/Kevlar PowerChamber/ColdAirChamber/RamAir Intake System, you do not need to cut or trim the OEM hood or bumper for a proper fitment like other systems currently on the market."
They offer a snorkel that clears the hood that connects to the OEM intake as well.

if the intake is perfectly positioned, you won't need to cut the hood. if it's off by a little bit, you're screwed.
you have lots of adjustment options. i had to reposition my chamber a bit (box where the filter sits) by making the screw holes larger.

Ok so i'll post some pics of what i'm talking about. . .
This is the intake as a whole..
This view you can see that it's pushed all the way down (its actually making contact on the bottom and scratching the paint from there...) and back towards the engine bay...
and a slight dimple from my hood
another angle to show that it's all the way down.
had to take this bolt, spacer, bracket, and washer off because it was actually holding the intake UP so it was sitting higher...
removed this bracket, bolt, washer, and spacer so i could get the hood closed...
and i also moved the hood latch up so be able to get the hood closed a little more easily.
all in all i can get the hood closed but it's not as easy as i would like... the intake is still making contact with the hood, but i put some soft foam on the top inside of the hood to prevent further scratching / paint removing. . .
idk where i went wrong

The bolt you removed, the bracket has lots of play on one end. Did you try to slide the bracket into position when you push the intake against the radiator support and then tighten it at the intake and support? If you do that it will easily clear the hood, though it is a tight fit
I didn't really have any issues installing mine, though I do have 2 holes on the top cover that do not line up well with the actual nuts attached to the box. Though even without the cover is securely in place.
