Rotora MINI Brake

I'm about to get these, from the spec said to fit OEM wheels and rotor. Just like to know if anyone tried them and how do you like it.

Rotara MINI brake

North Star 05-02-2007 09:01 AM

Hmm, those look pretty nice! I'd do it! :D

cuonice 05-02-2007 09:41 AM

If they use OEM size pads and rotors they'd be worth a try.....

kenyellows2k 05-02-2007 11:03 AM

what is a big plus is it fits stock wheels, I have volks that fits only stock brakes and I dont want to run spacers.

Tolgahan Ures 05-02-2007 12:10 PM

Do they fit ap2 version 1 rims without any spacers ?

Dark 05-02-2007 12:13 PM

They look to be priced similar to the Spoon calipers...if they fit without spacers then I can see them being in much higher demand.
I'd buy them if they were confirmed to fit my volk te's

Oh damn. Interested. Looks like a good alternative to the Wilwood 4pots?

No rotors. Basically a caliper kit FYI. Nice though

DerrS2K 05-02-2007 01:26 PM

I wouldn't get your hopes up regarding these fitting OEM wheels. Works with OEM wheels could very well mean that OEM wheels will work as long as you use spacers. It says they will fit "stock size diameter wheels."

kenyellows2k 05-02-2007 01:58 PM

Here's the specs if someone can tell me it will fit stock wheels.

From the middle to the top of the caliper it requires 170mm, from middle to the bottom it requires 90mm of clearance and most importantly it requires 35mm to clear from the side or thickness.

35mm = 1.37inch of side thickness from rotor to the rim. My current Volks CE28 has 1.8 inch of side clearance I will give this a try, looks like it will work without spacers.

zbrewha863 05-02-2007 02:15 PM

Huh, that's weird ... the press release says they make a front and a rear kit for the S2000, but Hopup only sells the front kit.

Either way this is a way better deal than the Spoon kit, the Rotora kit also comes with braided lines and pads. And with the Spoon kit don't you have to buy the hardware separately as well?

Spoon kit comes with calipers, and mounts. They use oem brake pads and lines. Looks like a great option for the money. One big difference, is Spoon is Monoblock, these are 2 piece. They should work pretty good regardles tho. (even tho these arent JDM, and this is the JDM section) ;)

leester01 05-02-2007 04:20 PM

No spacers!

i think they only confirm fits stock DIAMETER wheels, didnt mention offset yet. be awesome if they are more wheel friendly. :)

tantheman 05-04-2007 07:15 AM

On the look out for rear BBK set up that would work in conjunction with the E-brake.

incorrect, the mini-4 is a monoblock 4 piston caliper.

Guerillah 05-04-2007 09:31 AM

Looking at the picture of it, it does not appear to be monoblock. You can see its two sides and bolts holding it together.

Dark 05-06-2007 11:49 AM

my mistake, by monoblock I meant it wasn't a pull-style like the stockers.

I would love to know the answer to this question.

Suzuka_Joe 01-31-2010 06:33 PM

I've been wanting these for a long time. I just don't know if the spoons are worth the extra $$.

chuhsi 01-31-2010 06:35 PM

No way these can fit under ap2 wheels without a spacer.

ahh horseshit. Would the spacers need to be huge?

Wilwood rear big brake kit, 1 piston, works with e-brake

Fyrestrike 02-01-2010 09:41 AM

Or you can spend just a bit more and get the bigger kit that comes with big calipers and front/rear rotors ;)

Except the OP is looking for something that will fit under OEM wheels.

Dressed2Kill 02-02-2010 08:48 AM

"S2kitt" has this brake kit on his car. I know he had to add 10mm spacers for the brakes to fit with his 5zigen FN in 17x8 with a 45 offset.

:iagree:

I have the mini set, and the fronts will need a spacer

hrcrothmans 02-04-2010 11:46 PM

The only trully BBK that fit into the OEM wheels without spacers is the tarox.

And by the way the tarox is a billet caliper which is better than monobloc ;)

i have installed it myself and it is fantastic...

By the way the front caliper can be a 10 piston in the same caliper size if you want for 200 dolars more if you want but i already think that 6 is enought...

so basically they are the only manufacturers that do a 10 piston caliper that fits in the OEM 17" wheels without any spacer! :D

Is there a U.S. supplier or did you have to order direct from Italy on the Tarox bbk?

Hola! :D

I think that what you want to say is that forged (billet) is better than cast...

because monoblock > multi-piece (less flex)

(Btw.. you might want to change your flag in s2ki.. you look so.. "american")
