ITB= waste of money if you're going daily driven. The tuning on something like this is harder than a carburetor. ITB's I think are primarily for track use only.
ITBs, hell any heavily modified car, is going to come down to proper tuning that should be given. You can't pass annual emissions in any state that checks ODBII with an S2000. Something Race Miata didn't probably have to worry about on his Miata. I'm also wondering how many different areas you drove your Miata. I had no problems with mine around my area but when I took it to an area with much higher elevation, I found that adjustment was needed. The colder climate and higher altitude for some reason made the car hiccup at higher RPMs. I am getting better gas mileage but that' due to a better tune IMO then ITBs themselves.

I can't see the pic (photo gallery is screwy) but when describing ITBs, the standard is to talk about the diameter of the throttles not the "runner length". So if you are using 48mm ITBs, that's the diameter of the throttle opening/mating surface, not the length of the airhorns. I think that answers your question.
Damn, I have to read all the way through. Here is the difference between Hayward's setup and Jenvey's (this is all info from when I was researching last year). Hayward's come with a set of Pico Injectors, Jenvey's no injectors. Hayward's include an S2000 specific throttle cable hook up, Jenvey's you have to fabricate one. Haywards, come assembled with a vacuum tree, for brakes, map, etc, Jenvey's don't. Hayward's has a different location for the water outlet (stock location), the Jenvey's is moved closer to the manifold/head flange.
BTW, I just checked TWM website the $2185 price is without injectors. Hayward's price includes injectors, so you aren't really comparing apples to apples here. If they are charging $200 per injector you are looking at pretty much the same price.
I'm not sure about the other manufacturers but TWM seems to provide pretty good service. When my original used decade-old TWMs was too small for my application, Gary let me traded them in for a new set with bigger bores plus new fuel-rails. Getting serviceable parts form him was also not a problem.
