Angry Tunning Questions Regarding AEM EMS

Hey guys,

I just have the AEM EMS installed and dyno tunned about 2 weeks ago and since I have noticed some difference comparing to stock ECU:

1. Gas Milleage decreases significantly! I used to be able to hit 250mi for the tank but now it is only 180mi!

2. It takes 3 to 5 sec for the car to start when pushing down the engine start button.

3. Idle is very unstable, jumping from 900rpm to 1,300rpm.

Are all the above normal? Or there is some error in my tunning..
If so, what went wrong?
Can anyone suggest me any prestigious shop on tunning AEM EMS with Honda cars?

All the above have been troubling me since, I'd appreciate any comments and suggestions.

1. If you have the wideband version, set up the closed loop option.

2. Just wait a couple of sec after turning the ignition on, before pushing the start button.

3. Copy the setting from the AEM basemap, they work very well for me.

thanks for ur suggestions =)

as for no2 .. i did wait a few sec (not a few but like 15) after turning the ignition on cuz i know ems needs a moment to do system check.. however, it sill takes abt 5 sec for the engine to b completed ignited..

for your starting, check your crank fuel table. mine works great set at the same raw number as fuel at about -9ish. all other settings i left alone.

as for mileage, two things to remember. did you even tune part throttle at all loads? either have a buddy drive your car and tune each rpm and load point at that rpm, or rent time at a load bearing dyno. then you can do it all yourself. part throttle is as important as wot.

for idle, mess with your iac valve settings. this can stabilize the idle. if your running closed loop, make sure you adjust fuel settings in the 500, 1000, 1500 rpm load -11 to -9 all together. all these areas effect the idle since your dropping from below 1000rpm to above.

first though, mess with iac setting. good luck. the aem can work very well, just takes time. i think it got a bad rap becuase in the begining people just stuck with the base map settings and said, hmm, guess this is the way it works.

i'm having the same problem starting too....just got tuned N/A yesterday by Mike Angel of factor x here in LV. it ran like crap on the s2k base map. it runs very nicely now except for starting... takes 5-10 seconds to start.

I've heard thats normal for the AEM unit as it needs time to prime.

sorry to jack the thread:

does the "check engine" light come on with AEM ems? or any piggyback/standalone system?
