Smile TX - Insane Drive Shafts 500hp 00-09 S2000 - Both Driver and Passenger Side

FS: Insane Drive Shafts 500hp (2000-2009 S2000) (Both Driver and Passenger Side)

LIKE NEW CONDITION - I just recently purchased and professionally inspected / installed these on my 2006 S2000 after I jumped the gun on some rear end issues and assumed it was the axles that needed replacing when in fact it was my rear differential that needed to be rebuilt (ouch) which I realized after installing the axles. As a result, the axles only have maybe 25 miles on them at the most and unfortunately I couldn't return them to K Series because they were installed but naturally now I need to the money to pay for my new diff so I can't keep them either so my loss is your gain but they are in perfect condition.

I’ve heard vibration issues arising when swapping from the oem hollow axles to these? Did you notice anything along these lines?

Honestly, from what I could tell there was no distinct vibration but it's hard for me to say because even when I put them on and drove it my diff was still garbage and needed to be rebuilt so I didn't push it because nothing felt right anyways and I had to park the car in case the diff froze up. What I can tell you is that Rockstar Garage uses them on all their track cars with no issues which is why I bought them to begin with. I think some of the trouble might come from how slammed someone's car might be, any spacers or aftermarket diff mounts used and the alignment specs so everyone's experience may differ but with the right set up they should be fine and typically you can expect any solid shaft axle to give you a little more feedback anyways. I hope that helps.

These are interesting. I was looking on Kseriesparts and Insane Shafts websites for some detailed info on the axles but there really isn't much. Do you know what else makes them so good besides being made of heat treated chromoly steel? Or is that about it?

Basically, the inner CV on the S2000 has been a problem with the stock axles. The factory tripod bearing will wear into the inner CV housing because it only has 3 points where it makes contact and will dig into the housing causing the part to wear, creating noise, vibration and failure. The insane Axles from what I can see use a Porsche 930-style Inner CV so there is a full 6 contact points instead of 3 since it is a ball and cage design so it will be better at running at an angle especially when the S2000 is lowered because it puts the inner CV into a significant angle putting more stress on the inner CV. It's basically much tougher and will hold more power and last a lot longer.
