Apart from your humor about wielding a bolt-action rifle, you might be surprised how many rounds that you can shoot quickly with one. I was on the Marine Corps rifle and pistol team. We had bolt-action Model 70 Winchester's, match certified, that we trained with at the 600 yard-line for long distance matches up at Quantico. We would improvise rapid-fire contests unrelated to training where we had 15 seconds to get off 5 rounds at 600 yards. All five of us could usually get 5 rounds on target in 15 seconds.
